The
Arkansas Golfweek Amateur Tour headed north for a regional event – Midwest Regional.
Eighty four golfers from ten tours converged on Big Cedar (Hollister/Branson,
MO) to play Buffalo Ridge and Ozarks National. Scores were hot and the
temperatures were hot.
The
Champ flight was won handily by Luke Cook of Louisiana North with scores of 82
and 75 for an 8 stroke victory.
Chandler Cain from the host tour (Arkansas) ran away with the A flight
with scores of 73 and 72. Three players tied for third with two day totals of
157 with fellow Arkansas tour member, Corey Jarman taking second in the card
off over JD Price (Dallas-Fort Worth) and Ryan Blackwell (Mississippi).
The B flight was a little closer with recently promoted, Ricky
Muniz (Kansas) taking 1st by one stroke with a two day total of 161.
Stacy King (Louisiana North) took second with 162. Fellow Louisiana North tour
member, Ed Tilden, took third with 164. Rounding out the paid places in the B
flight was Jason Boykin (166) from Mississippi.
The C Flight was a battle to the final hole with John Governski (Kansas)
parring the difficult 18th hole and winning with a 2-day total of
170. Phil Smith (171) took second and fellow Arkansas tour member, Justin Gaddy
(172) took third. David Eslinger – Arkansas, (173) took fourth place.
The
D Flight was another close battle as 3 players from Arkansas started the 18th
hole tied for first. Yul Eslinger (174) prevailed with a bogey on the final
hole. Keith Goolsby (175) took second with James Erwin (176) took third. Jay
Williams rounded out the paid places in D Flight with 178.
