What is the USHandicap Service?

USHandicap is the largest network of USGA licensed clubs offering golfers a web-based service that allows them to track stats and obtain access to a USGA compliant handicap index. With a golf course database of over 30,000 courses, the service makes it easy to post scores and stats without the hassle of entering course related data like slope, rating, distance...simply search and find your course and post your score.

A variety of stats can be tracked; including the new "Equipment Timeline" service which allows members to attach the equipment used for any given round and compare game improvement based upon different equipment used.

Handicaps are USGA compliant. Per the USGA, a revised index is issued via email on the 1st & 15th of each month. At anytime, members can print an updated version of their handicap card for verification. In addition, each member will have access to their local handicap club chairman for verification assistance.

If I have an existing USGA Handicap Index from a different provider (GHIN®, EZlinks, etc.), can I import those scores into the Golfweek Amateur Tour handicap service?

No. The Golfweek Amateur Tour utilizes a handicap service called US Handicap by Golfnet and scores from another handicap provider need to be manually entered into the US Handicap service upon signing up as a Golfweek Amateur Tour member. All tournament rounds played on Tour will be automatically posted to one’s US Handicap index, but not to an outside index, such as GHIN®, Ezlinks, etc. Any non-tournament rounds need to be manually posted to the member’s Golfweek Amateur Tour US Handicap account by the member so as to remain active and as up to date as possible.

Golfweek Amateur Tournaments are flighted based off a Tour Index. How is this index generated?

You need a minimum number of rounds played on the Golfweek Amateur Tour to receive an official Tour Index. The Tour Index is generated from a player’s Golfweek Amateur tournaments only, and does not factor non-Golfweek Amateur Tour scores you post to your profile. When you compete in Golfweek Amateur Tour tournaments, your local Tour Director will automatically post those scores into your Golfweek Amateur Tour profile, helping to generate this Tour Index. A previous USGA Handicap Index and any other historical data will be used to flight you before you achieve the minimum rounds on the Golfweek Amateur Tour

How can I verify my USGA® Handicap Index to play in an outside/non-Am Tour event?

The handicap index is a 100% USGA compliant index and should be accepted by most tournaments(World Am, etc).  That said, many state golf associations require the golfer to be a member to play in their events.  Sometimes, part of being a member is keeping your handicap with the associations handicap computation vendor (GHIN, GolfNet, Handicomp).   Some association's allow a non member rate to play in their events.  It is important to remember that each index, regardless of the computation provider is USGA compliant.
