It was another warm day in Central Indiana for our event at Hickory Stick.  Tee Times began at noon, making the players play through the heat of the day.  The temperatures appear to have played a big role in the scores, because most of the scores increased on the back 9.

Nathan Allen & Jason Farling battled it out in 'A' Flight.  On the front 9 they both posted 39's.  Farling took a 2-shot lead thru 13 holes before Allen battled back with a birdie on hole 15 to take a 1-shot lead with 3 holes to play.  The par 5 sixteenth turned out to be a turning point in the tournament.  Allen found the fairway off the tee and after his second shot while Farling was in the rough off the tee and pushed his second shot into the heather were the ball was never to be found.  Farlings lost ball lead to Allen winning the 'A' Flight by 4 with a score of 77.  Allen's 77 was his lowest round on tour this year.

The 'B' flight had the most consistent scores of any flight.  After the front 9 only two strokes were the difference between the players.  Chris Nold had a 39 on the front 9 and continued his steady play on the back 9 with a 38 for a total of 77.  Clifton Drane and William Jamieson both applied pressure to Nold throughout the day, but both had triple bogies on par 5's giving Nold the win.  Drane and Jamieson both shot 81.

It was a record setting day in the 'C' flight.  Phil Grimm from the Southern Indiana/Western Kentucky tour looked like Rory McIlroy at the US Open leaving the other players in 'C' flight fighting for 2nd place.  Grimm had four birdies on the day leading to his career low of 73.  Tony Witt came in 2nd with a score of 84.

'D' Flight point’s leader Darrell Davis continued his winning ways, but he had to do battle with players from the Chicago & Columbus Tours.  Davis represented the Indy Tour well walking away with the win.  After the front 9, Davis had a 3-shot lead over Mick Hoover & 4-shot lead over Scott Marincic.  The heat appeared to affect the 'D' Flight more than the other flights, allowing Davis's play to slip a little on the back 9 but still walk away with the win.  Davis posted a 90, followed by Marincic's 92, and Hoover's 95.  William Gilstrap was the only 'D' flight player to post a lower score on the back 9, compared to the front 9.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the event.  Head Golf Professional, Keith Clark, and his staff made us feel right at home at Hickory Stick.  Thank you to Keith and his staff.  The superintendent had the course in great shape with the drought conditions we have had in Central Indiana.  Next event is a The Trophy Club on August 13
