Tom Dillon Scores 2nd Ace in Three Events, Following Bill Shufelt's Ace On April 23

The first major of 2016 was played on May 21-22 at ChampionsGate CC and ChampionsGate Resort.  It was the 12th Bob Mirus Memorial.  The weekend was marked by a little bit of everything--great weather, quality courses, the second hole in one in three tournaments and on Sunday, a 4-way playoff to decide Senior C flight.  And we raised another $195 for our Eric Baker Memorial Fund that supports Stand Up 2 Cancer and junior golf.  Over $1700 after only six tournaments.  Thank you!

Tom Dillon became the second player to score an ace on tour this year as he holed a five iron on the 172 yard #11 at ChampionsGate Country Club on Saturday.  Bill Shufelt made an ace at Victoria Hills in April.  On Sunday we started a new hole in one pot and it already has $480 in it.

So, here arer the winners.

Chad Frank scored his second victory of 2016 after losing in a two hole playoff with Jim Moritz and Jim Hammons in Championship flight last time out.  Chad opened with 71 and held a one shot lead over Matt Tickle.  On Sunday, he put up a 4-under par 68 and pulled away from the field.   Cory Walker (147) shot even par 72 on Sunday to slip past Tickle for second (149). The excitement came at the end of the day when four players tied for the top spot in the senior C flight.  Rick Whitman, George Ricardo, Bill Robertson and Mark Johnson went back out and played the par 5 18th hole.  Ricardo made the only par to walk off with the victory.
