Spring Lake, NC (August 28, 2010) - The Anderson Creek Golf Club course proved to be a formidable opponent Saturday in the final Major event of the 2010 season on the Egolf Tour. All four flights played from the Blue Tees at 6,639 yards and found low scores scarce, with winners posting modest scores in every flight contested.
In the Championship Flight only 2 players managed to break 80 with a 77 and 79. In the A and B flights only one Tour member in each managed to turn the feat, with a 78, and 79 respectively. The C Flight only had 2 members who shot below 90, with Sanford's Bill Bridges taking the top spot with an 87, while Linden's Doug Tompkins finished 1 back.
Bridges noted "My driver wasn't working today, but the rest of my game was on". Like the other 3 flight winners, this was Bridge's first "Major" victory. With the win in any Major, all four flight winners automatically qualify for the year-ending National Tour Championship to be held at Hilton Head in October. That event will draw an estimated 650 - 700 players from all over the US.
Winston-Salem's Bryan Sepich took top honors in the Championship Flight, while Brad Morris of Four Oaks prevailed in "A". High Point's Don Slenker was the B Flight victor.
"All four of these guys survived a tough test of golf today", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "A major event is supposed to challenge the players. This course never has been what you'd call a 'push-over' ".
