"Improve your golf mental toughness 10-fold"

Every golfer has heard the saying "It's all in your head" or "Golf is 90% mental" or "Golf is the most mentally demanding sport in the world." Yet what do golfers do about it? Well, most often absolutley nothing! Not necessarily because they don't want to, but sometimes golfers actually think the mental game doesn't matter to them!

Click Here to Unlock Your Mind and Shoot Better Golf

EVERY golfer can benefit from increasing their mental toughness and harnessing the full power of thier mind!

Many golfers naively get stuck into thinking that the mental game only matters for elite players or pros who make a living golfing. Nonsense! EVERY golfer needs to use their mind properly.

  • It is your mind that determines how well you learn when taking lessons. (and this training course is packed with accelerated learning techniques that will have you absorbing more from lessons)

  • It is your mind that will allow you to set up to the ball correctly and commit to your swing (or not!).

  • It is your mind that will either stay focused under pressure and get you to make a smooth, fluid stroke when you need to drain an 8 footer for the win, or have you choking like a dog and collapsing like a house of cards when the heat is on!

"When you have a chance to shoot the lowest score of your life you won't choke - You Will Go Low!"

GOLFWEEK ANDERSON CREEK "MAJOR" PROVES TOUGH TEST

Spring Lake, NC

August 25, 2012

A Major Championship event is supposed to present a tough test of golf to the players participating and that is just what Anderson Creek Golf Club provided today for the contestants in the Golfweek Amateur Tour's final Major of the 2012 season.

With the possible exception of the D Flight, winning scores across the board were higher than recent Tour standards.

Fittingly, the largest margin of victory occurred in the D Flight where Knightdale's Doug Harvey shot a 92 for a comfortable 7 stroke cushion over 2 golfers: Fayetteville's Isaac Kinnard and Greensboro's Keith Thomas. For Harvey, who normally plays on the Senior Amateur Tour, it was his 1st Golfweek Tour win.

At the other end of the spectrum in the Championship Flight, things couldn't have been closer as the top 3 spots were separated by a single stroke each. All 3 players are former Tour winners with High Point's Dan Holland taking the top spot with a 77, Neal Faulkner of Gibsonville 2nd with a 78, and Kernersville's Park Williams 3rd at 79.

In A Flight action, Greensboro's Coray Mitchell nipped Bill Berry of Garner by a single stroke - 78 to 79. In fairness it should be noted that the A Flight played from tees about 400 yards shorter than the Championship boys.

Raleigh's Paul Harmon also enjoyed a 1 stroke margin of victory in taking the B Flight with an 82. Winston-Salem's Nick Slager continued his fine play of late in grabbing 2nd place.

It took Phillip Maynor, a member at Anderson Creek two holes of extra play to ease past fellow Fayetteville resident Joe Cho in a playoff for the C Flight crown. Both registered 88s on their original 18 holes of play. Cho missed a golden opportunity to end the playoff on the 1st extra hole, but caused an errant shot around the green, which enabled Maynor to get a second chance which he used to his advantage.

At the end of the event the raffle drawing for two original framed, matted, and signed photographs of the 13th hole at Augusta National was held after two weeks of collecting money for The Folds Of Honor Foundation - a charity that provides subsistence and scholarships to the families of US servicemen killed in action. The winners were Larry Plesser of Fayetteville and Mike Brown of Pittsboro. $1,200.00 was raised by donations from both The Senior Amateur Tour and The Golfweek Amateur Tour.

The Tour will be taking the next 2 weeks off and return with an event at Hyland Resort on September 15. There are openings for that event.

TO All NEW & RETURNING GOLFWEEK AMATEURS MEMBERS: A 2012 APPLICATION IS REQUIRED.

ONLY TWO WAYS TO GET TO THE GOLFWEEK NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AT HILTON HEAD

Where Are You In The

Year-End Point Standings Race?

There are only two ways to get to the year ending National Tournament - win one of the four majors (none remains-you are on your own) or be one of the Top 10 point earners in your flight.

We have reached the end of the season and some of the point races of who will be #1 in the Flights and places 7 - 14 are very tight. As little as 25 points separate some of those fighting for the Top 10.

Do you know how many tournaments you will need to play and what place you will need to finish in each tournament to ensure you have your automatic invitation? Don't be left out.

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score? Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm. There will be no trick questions or hidden information.
If you do not have a Rules of Golf book handy, go to: usga.org/Rule-Books and-Decisions

Question from week #160

Brothers Joey and Johnny Grimm are partners in a foursome stroke play competition. They have decided that Joey will tee off on the odd holes. On the fifth hole, Joey has hit their tee ball into the lateral hazard that runs down the left side of the hole.

The partners correctly determine the spot where their tee ball last crossed the margin of the hazard and decide to drop a ball under R26-1c within two club-lengths of that spot, no closer to the hole. Johnny drops a substituted ball within the prescribed area but it starts rolling down the slope towards the hazard. Joey stops the ball with his foot before it can reach the hazard margin, picks it up and tosses it back to Johnny to re-drop. This time the ball moves only about a foot before it comes to rest. Johnny hits this ball onto the green and Joey made the putt.

What did the brothers score on the 5th hole?

a. They did everything correctly and scored a 4.

b. Joey should not have stopped the dropped ball short of the hazard and as a result they are penalized two strokes instead of one. They made 5.

c. Joey should not have stopped the dropped ball short of the hazard and as a result they get an additional 2-stroke penalty under Rule 1-2. They made 6.

d. The brothers had a total of five penalty strokes and scored an 8 on the hole. They may face a possible DQ.

Answer:

The correct answer is “d”. This indeed is a grim situation.

They hit the ball three times and had five penalty strokes (R26-1, R1-2 and Rule 20-7.

The penalty for R26-1 is obvious because they took relief for a ball in a lateral water hazard.

This is foursomes stroke play where the players alternate shots from tee to hole-out. Since it is Johnny’s turn to play next, he must be the one to drop a ball for taking relief under R26-1 which he did correctly. But his brother must not stop the ball before it comes to rest unless it either has crossed the margin of the hazard or has rolled more than two club-lengths and in either case has no reasonable chance of reversing direction ( see Decision 20-c/4). The penalty for prematurely stopping the ball breaches Rule 1-2; a two stroke penalty. In this case the ball must then be placed and played from where it was stopped by Joey’s foot (see Note 2 below the penalty statement for R1-2).

When they failed to replace the ball where it had been stopped by Joey’s foot and instead played their next stroke from a position a few feet away, they breached Rule 20-7, Wrong Place, a second 2-stroke penalty.

Depending on the exact circumstances, the Committee could rule this a serious breach and DQ the brothers Grimm.

Tour Weather Guidelines:

Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.

The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).

In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.

Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.

If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
