SUFFOLK, Virginia – Xerxes “Zeus” Nabong dug this one out of nowhere, and won on the second playoff hole.
Tour Sponsor, Financial Advisor, Amateur Golfer all seem to go together when your talking about Xerxes Nabong, but now you can add in “Tour Winner” and it comes at a great time right before the Tidewater Masters.

Nabong rolled off 4-birdies in route to his 78 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course, all coming with a new putter and a fresh trip back from Tobacco Road.

Playing partner Bill Mullis would later say “Zeus, hit the ball really well today and made so many key putts”. This was Nabong’s second best tour round, after the Local Finals last year where he recorded a 77 at Cahoon Plantation.

Leaving the course Tour Director-Lyle Joyner sent a text message to Nabong, “Prime and Ready for the Masters, uh?” with a quick response back from Nabong “You better believe it”.

Nabong really loves playing on the Amateur Golf Tour and looks forward to making the trip to Hilton Head, SC for the Tour Championship this year. With the victory at Sleepy Hole Nabong moved from 22nd place in the A-Flight standings to 9th place.

Something about Xerxes “Zeus” Nabong that not a lot of Tour Players know is he played against the Tour Director – Lyle Joyner in High School right here in Norfolk, VA. Nabong was a freshman at Granby High School and Joyner a Senior at Booker T. Joyner said “Nabong was always a solid player even in High School, I don’t remember a time he didn’t shot in the 70’s”. Of course the Senior Joyner never took Nabong down in High School, only having the chance to play twice on Nabong’s Home Course – Ocean View GC.

Special Note: Have you ever searched on the internet for something before? Next time your looking for something to search for how about typing in “Xerxes Nabong” and see what comes up. Does the title “Woods brings inner city clinic tour to Norfolk” ring a bell to anyone? Well it should.

Back in 2000, Tiger Woods came to Norfolk, Virginia for a clinic at Ocean View Golf Course. This was a big event and the reopening of Ocean View Golf Course after some remodeling. Well the online article is something to read about one of our own tour players – Xerxes “Zeus” Nabong.

“Meeting Tiger Woods,” Nabong [Age 17] said. “That's about as big as you can get in golf.”
