David Thille's Hole-in-One wins him over $2,400!

Louisiana: David Thille, two year member, was a late entry in the Gray Plantation tournament.
With 36 players in the field he knew the closest to the pin pot would be substantial, probably $65 or $70.
He had no idea what the hole-in-one pot was, not to mention, his only goal was to hit the green. With winds steadily blowing 12-15 mph and gusting 22 mph, David one hopped a hybrid for his first ace on the 200 yard 13th hole of Gray Plantation. The pot was $2,452.00 and placed in David's hands immediately after the round.
(Note: 45 minutes earlier, Brandon Guillory was already counting his chickens when he measured his shot on the same hole at 8 inches.)

Phoenix, AZ: The Championship flight continues to display some truly amazing play! This week it was Bob Aussprung's turn to show some magic. As Bob stood on the par three 13th hole at even par for the day, he proceeded to birdie 13, 14, 16 and 18 to finish at 3 under 69 for the day! Bob had 5 birdies in all for the day. The ever consistent Peter Ells was the runner-up with a 1 over 73 and tour newcomer Ron Nagy fired 3 birdies in his debut 77.

Todd Ringsmuth carded 4 birdies in the A Flight to capture top honors by a shot with an amazing 4 over par 76! This is an amazing 12 shots better than what Todd shot at San Marcos , your practice is surely paying off! Runner-up Joseph Brazil shot a very consistent 39 on the front and 38 on the back for a smooth 77. Third place went to 14 year old Ian Hagener who gave notice that age is just a number and he is here to compete with an outstanding 79!

B Flight Champion John Robinson, who missed the top 3 at San Marcos by a shot, brought his A game and shot a 38 on the front nine on his way to an impressive 79. A scorecard playoff determined 2nd and 3rd between Gregory Peck and Chad Pewamo, who both carded 81's, with Gregory nosing Chad out by a shot on the #1 handicap hole, the par five 11th.

Melvin Woody of the C Flight is our first multiple champion. Melvin shaved 8 strokes off his score from San Marcos to blister the field with an 80. Congratulations on a great round Melvin! Melvin told me after the round that he is looking forward to the competition in the B Flight if his game stays hot. The next event should determine if the golf gods have truly blessed his swing or if they are being fickle. Runner-up Vince Rivera also shaved some strokes from San Marcos , six in fact, to post an 85 with a consistent 44 on the front and 41 on the back.

In the D Flight, Bruce Newell playing in his first event, pared his last two holes to post a 90 and his first victory on tour! San Maro Champion Robert Frederick was 2nd with a 99.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were: #1 - Joseph Brazil, #4 - Walt Lipski, #7 - Gregory Peck, #13 - Todd Ringsmuth, #14 - Pierson Hamilton, #17 - Robert Bobber
