Ray Vigeant victorious at Black Bear
Orlando, FL Tour: March 19th, Black Bear GC
EUSTIS, FL. – The 2011 Orlando Golfweek Amateur Tour season opened at Black Bear Golf Club with 112 golfers, the most players since opening day in 2009.
After a 30-minute fog delay in the morning, Ray Vigeant fired an even-par 72 to take the top spot in Championship flight. His round included a 34 on the front nine. Eric Baker was second with 74.
First-year player Mark Scherr captured the A flight with a solid round of 74 while Alex Sandor, also a new member, placed second with a 76. The 31 players in A flight set a record for that division in Orlando.
The B flight saw yet another tour rookie win as Kevinn Wilkey cruised to a five-shot victory with an 81. Dan Seidenfaden placed second in a match of cards against four other players who all shot 86. to the Pin contest and received a new 3-hybrid for the feat.
Omar Hernandez shot 84 to win the C flight, three shots in front of tour veteran Randolph Hill.
Lawrence Blunk scored a victory in D flight by firing a 92. By a razor thin margin, he edged past first-year player Joshua Johnson by a single stroke. To go with his runner-up finish, Johnson hit a shot to 9 feet, 5 inches to win the PowerBilt Closest to the Pin contest and received a new 3-hybrid for the feat.
The Orlando tour moves to Duran Golf Club in Viera, FL on April 2.
