2018 Chicago TEAM Tour

More exciting 2018 season annoucements from the Chicago Golfweek Tour!!

We are excited to announce the introduction of the Chicago TEAM Cup in 2018!

In addition to the exciting Chicago Cup schedule, the Chicago Golfweek Amateur Tour will provide 5 separate local tournaments open to all Golfweek Members to chase the Chicago TEAM Cup.  Each event will be a TEAM event where members will compete in a 2 player Better-Ball NET Tournament.  Read the guidelines and get your tour card today!

The TEAM Tour will be a 2 player best ball format where each player plays his or her own ball from tee to green.  The lowest NET score of the 2 player team will count towards the team score.

The TEAM Tour is open only to any registered Member of the Golfweek Amateur Tour, both playing partners must be Members. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Chicago Amateur Tour decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the event.

The lowest handicap index between the Golfweek Amateur Tour Index OR CDGA Index will be used for tournament indexes. The tournament committee will confirm every player’s handicap that enters the event before the event is played. Note that the tournament organizers will establish an Exceptional Scoring Committee (ESC) that reserves the right to re-flight and/or disqualify any team that the committee determines has intentionally manipulated the concept of fair-play and clean competition.

The Chicago TEAM Tour has adopted the USGA guideline that recommends that in tournament play there be no more than eight (8) strokes difference between the handicaps of the partners in order to make the competition fair.

Example: A 2 handicap can pair up and compete with a 20 handicap,  however the 20 handicap will have their tour index adjusted to 10 (8 points higher) .Working off of the lower handicap, the maximum allowable is 8 points higher than the 2 handicap, so the 20 would be adjusted down to a 10.

Each event will be 18 holes of STROKE play, scoring the Team’s better ball (NET) on each hole.   Each player would take his/her strokes (adjusted) where they fall on the card.  The TEAM with the best finishing team in the NET competition will be crowned champion.

In our example above:  Player 1 (2 index) would take strokes on the two hardest holes and Player 2 (10 index) would take strokes on the 10 hardest holes.  Their Best NET score will count towards the TEAM score

Tournament Yardages & Index Calculations

Players will play from the following yardages and will have their GWAT tour indexes according to the slope and rating for the corresponding tee box

Index of 13.9 or less –approximately 6600 yards

Index of 14.0 – 19.9 –approximately 6300 yards

Index of 20 or higher –approximately 6000 yards

Ladies (all abilities) –approximately 6000 yards

For example, Rob's tour index is 14.8.  At Naperville CC (season kickoff) he will play the Blue Tees that carry a slope/rating of 71.0/138.  Rob's index for the tournament would be 18 and he would receive a stroke on each hole. To find out what your calculation would be, check out the USGA Course Calculator

Prize Pool & Trophies

A portion of each player’s tournament fee will be applied to a prize pool.  The top finishers at each event will be paid out in the form of Visa Gift Cards.  The total prize pool and payouts will be determined once the field is confirmed.
