2019 Preserve Tournament Recap

The Preserve Tournament Recap

The Chicago Cup Playoffs kicked into high gear this past weekend at the Preserve as 4 of the 5 flights conducted sudden death playoffs! It was a fantastic way to start the playoff season, the weather wasn't bad either!

Champ Flight

Tonie Price earned his 2nd victory in 3 starts after winning at the Preserve. Kenneth Li and Price were tied after 18 holes, but Li could not put a peg in the ground for the playoff, giving Price the victory. Third place went to Peter Skiba. Skiba maintained his leads in both the National Tour Championship Standings and the Chicago Cup, while Nick Lanas also stayed at the top of the Wilson Cup.

A Flight

The A flight was the only flight that did not have a playoff of the day George Tudor made sure of that. Tudor's day was highlighted with birdies at 2, 12, 13 & 16! Second place went to Steve Moreci as he was 1 shot back and third to Karen Ford finishing 2 shots back. Eric Lee saw his Chicago Cup and Tour Championship standings points leads shrink, but stayed in the top spot. Fred Alaimo leads the way in the Wilson Cup.

B Flight

Peter Wawire did his best to defend his title from last season's victory at the Preseve. He joined Josh Borysiak in a sudden death playoff after both players shot matching 82s. Borysiak was able to roll in his par putt to claim the victory on the first playoff hole. Nancy Hatten took third place finishing 2 shots back. With his victory, we have a new leader in both the Chicago Cup leaderboard and National Tour Standings, as Borysiak sits in the top spot. Brian Barnes added another birdie this past weekend to pad his leading total in the Wilson Cup Standings

C Flight

Chet Laskowski started out red hot, shooting 2 over on the front 9. Then Matt French played solid golf and caught him on the back nine to setup a playoff! Laskowski crushed his drive on the first playoff hole and French found some trouble, allowing Laskowski to take home the title. Joe Denise took third place finishing 3 shots back. Rick Pisarczyk's lead is still intact in both the Chicago Cup and the National Points race while we have a new leader in the Wilson Cup Standings: Gelmer Moran holds a narrow lead over Andy Sardina.

D Flight

2 Weeks ago, Trang Nguyen and Ed Mallett finished 2-3 after just missing out on the top spot. This week they found themselves in a playoff after both shot 97. Nguyen was able to squeak out he playoff win after Mallet found some trouble off the tee. Third place went to Fred Alaimo "Sr" and is the only flight leader for the "trifecta": the Chicago Cup, Wilson Cup, and National Points race!! Should be an exciting playoff season!!
