All Tournament policies from National Players Handbook in effect unless otherwise noted/updated below

Tournament Cancellations and No Shows

All withdrawals from a tournament must be done before tee times are posted. If a player withdraws from a tournament prior to the pairings being released a refund will be applied but the funds will be held on account to be used at a future event. In the case that a player does not play in another tournament, a refund will be issued at the end of the season.

If a player withdraws from a tournament after the pairings have been released the player will only receive a refund if a replacement player is found. The replacement player has to be from the same flight as the player who canceled.

If a replacement player cannot be found, a partial refund can be obtained only if the course does not charge the tour for your place in the field. The amount of the refund will be the tournament fee less an admin fee of $25 plus any amounts paid towards prize pools, trophies, or other tournament items.

In the event that a player does not show for a tournament or event, no refund will be given, and the player’s ability to play in future events may be revoked.

Guest Policy

Each member is allowed to invite (and be paired with) a single guest. This privilege is extended to all members and may be exercised once per season. A player can not be a guest more than once in the lifetime.

Guests must register for the tour and pay for the tournament like all players. Guests must identify themselves as such at the tournament site. Guests will be charged an additional $20 fee to participate.

A guest will have the option to join the tour and receive Cup points, but must do so before the next event. Note this is not meant to be the player’s next event, but rather the next event on the tour schedule. A guest is not eligible for any gift card prize or any other tournament prizes.

Pace of Play

The Chicago Golfweek Amateur Tour’s Pace of Play policy gives the responsibility of maintaining the pace of play with the player. Pace of Play plays a huge factor in the experience of each player on the Golfweek Amateur Tour. USGA rule 6-7 governs pace of play in the USGA rulebook.

Under Rule 6-7 and 33-1, the Tournament Committee may establish pace of play guidelines including maximum periods of time allowed to complete a stipulated round, a hole, or a stroke.

• Each player is given 40 seconds to complete each stroke once it is his/her turn to play.

If your routine is causing you to take longer than 40 seconds, then you need to improve your pace of play. Ready golf, continuous putting, good cart etiquette, and preparing to putt while others are putting are all good suggestions to speed up play.

It is NOT the committee’s responsibility to warn you on slow play. It is YOUR responsibility to monitor your pace of play to ensure that your group stays on pace.

Full Details can be found here: 2019 Pace of Play Policy

Local Rules

Local Tournament rules will be available at each tournament and printed on the back of official tournament scorecards. New in 2019, we will be using QR Codes to provide full detailed rules. Members are encouraged to download a QR Reader (Free from Apple store or Google play store) for easy viewing. It is a players responsibility to be familiar with and understand these local rules. Hitting your first tee shot is an agreement to these policies.

Gift Card Policy

Continuing in 2019 ,the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St.Louis tours will be using a gift card program to better serve our memberships. The following guidelines have been put in place:

  • All gift cards will be distributed on site at tournaments and will be issued with at term date of November 30, 2019. All cards will be printed with an expiration date on the bottom of the card.
  • Players are encouraged to use their cards as soon as possible and also encouraged to not use them at restaurants or hotels. Those institutions typically will put a larger dollar amount “hold” on the card, usually the hold will exceed the value on the card. This typically will result in a declined card.
  • If a card is lost or misplaced - it is the player’s responsibility to notify the tour as soon as possible as the replacement is dependent upon the expiration date of the card.
  • If a card is lost or misplaced before it has expired, a new card can be issued less a $25 fee. Please allow 30-45 days for a replacement to be mailed to your address on file with the tour.
  • If a card is lost or misplaced after it has expired, the tour will utilize its best efforts to recover the funds and a replacement card will be issued at 50% of the card value when it was first issued. Please allow 90-120 days for a replacement to be mailed to your address on file with the tour.

One of the core principles of the Golfweek Amateur is to allow golfers the chance to compete fairly. Our team utilizes USGA handicap principles to determine proper flight. Please refer to our National Tour Manual for complete details.

On the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Louis tours we have taken the issue of "flight movement" a step further and created some local rules that keep our core principles front and center. Concerns like Index Validation, Scoring out of Flight and our Flight Freeze details can be found here: 2019 Flight Movement

Live Scoring will be REQUIRED and the OFFICIAL SCORE of EACH Tournament. Players are expected to come prepared to EACH tournament with their smartphone ready to go for Live Scoring. Each group will receive a paper scorecard to track their scores as well. It is recommended to have one member of the group track scores on the paper scorecards and another, separate player, to track on live scoring.

After the tournament round, at the scoring table, players should compare live scoring and the paper scorecard to ensure both agree. Once in agreement all players must sign the scorecard, thus declaring the scores as final.

If a player submits a signed paper scorecard with a lower score on a particular hole than the actual score, the player will be disqualified from the tournament. It’s crucial that all players come to agreement BEFORE the scorecard is submitted final.

There is a little preparation everyone needs to do ahead of time to make this a success for everyone involved. For complete instructions on setting up live scoring, full Details can be found here: 2019 Live Scoring
