The DC and Philadelphia Metro Tours came together for a round at the Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun, Maryland. Competition was tight across all five flights as a playoff was needed to determine the winner in one while first and second place were separated by only one stroke in the three other flights.

Shun Aonuma and Brandon Christopher, both Philadelphia Metro Tour members, battled it out in the Championship Flight. The two were tied at 40 a piece heading into the back. Those final nine holes were back and forth as the players combined for three lead changes and two ties; the last tie occurring on the 18th hole when Christopher sunk a birdie to force a playoff, 90-90. Aonuma captured the win in the playoff, wrapping up a stellar round of golf by both players!

Ben Devine, of the DC Metro Tour, got off to a hot start and made the shots he needed to down the stretch to earn the A Flight victory. He led Brandon Prettyman, a Philadelphia Metro Tour member, 37-38 with nine holes left to play. The two were tied at 47 a piece following hole No. 11 but Devine took a two-stroke lead with a birdie on the 12th. Devine increased his lead to three and held on, topping Prettyman 78-80. Keith Gibert, of the DC Metro Tour, placed third (81) while New Jersey Tour member Deirdre Spina took fourth with an 82.

Scott Allen and Cephas Franklin, both DC Metro Tour members, were knotted up at 80 as they took to the final hole of the day. The two players traded leads throughout the round, and the 18th was no different, with Allen using a par to edge Franklin and take the B Flight win, 85-86. Close play continued down the leaderboard as Fredy Carreon, also of the DC Metro Tour, placed third (87) while Manny Fasaye, a fellow tour member, shot an 88, good for fourth. Dougy Phillips, Philadelphia Metro Tour member and 2021 National Champion, rounded out the top-5 with an 89.

The C Flight was no different as competition was close going down the leaderboard. Kyle Matschke, of the Philadelphia Metro Tour, fended off two players to take the top spot. Matschke shot an 85 while Jeff Wunderler and Gil Bunner — all members of the Philadelphia Metro Tour — finished in a two-way tie for second (86). Two participants also tied for third (88): DC Metro Tour member Bobbie Boykin and Mark Witmer, of the Philadelphia Metro Tour.

Don Bolden, a Philadelphia Metro Tour member, and Nick Taylor, of the DC Metro Tour, matched each other’s hole total 12 times throughout the round. For Bolden, the most important ones came on No.’s 16 -18. Bolden turned a one-stroke deficit into a one-stroke advantage on the 15th, and matched Taylor’s scores the remaining three holes to come away with the 92-93 D Flight victory. John Horn, of the Philadelphia Metro Tour, placed third (95) while Don Cherry, a DC Metro Tour member, shot a 96, good for fourth.
