Joe Lee Congratulates Keith McCracken On His Hole In One!
The Knoxville Division of the EGolf AMATEUR TOUR held their first event of the 2008 season on Saturday, March 22 at the Three Ridges Golf Club in Knoxville, TN. Three Ridges is a very hilly type of course with rolling fairways and tough greens. The warm, but windy playing conditions put a lot of teeth in this course today. Picking the right club became a tricky decision late in the tournament. The greens were treacherous, especially on short/ touch putts. The scores were indicative of the difficult playing conditions, but proved how competitive the players can be when it counts. The tournament played in just at five hours. The tournament would have played a lot quicker, but we had some slow players in front of the tournaments first grouping. Travis McKinney captured the Championship Flight with a score of 80. Ryan Gumbel placed second with a score of 82 with Ed Filipone right behind for third with a score of 85. The Championship Flight plated from the back tees today, which made for a tough round of golf in the wind. Wayne Zimmer scored the win in “A” Flight with a score of 82. Steve Cronberg took second place in a scorecard play-off over Wesley Clenney. Both players finished regulation play with scores of 83. John Harris took “B” Flight honors with a stellar round of 85. Bruce Russell placed second in a scorecard play-off over Dan Mitchell. Both players had rounds of 93. Scotty More scored the win in the “C” Flight with a 95. Allen Aldridge placed second with a 98, just beating out his playing partner James Reynolds. The next EGolf Amateur Tour stop for the Knoxville Tour will be at Willow Creek Country Club in Knoxville on Saturday, April 5. We would like to encourage everyone to come out, join the tour, and enjoy playing competitive tournament golf.
