Our First Stop for 2020 is

The Golfweek Amateur Tour renews in Las Vegas!

Las Vegas Local golfers will again have a tour to call their own as the popular Golfweek Amateur Tour revamps its schedule to the Las Vegas area with an impressive schedule for 2020. The Golfweek AGT hosts a lineup of 9 local tournaments beginning January 18th through September 27th. The new season opens at TPC Las Vegas additional stops and concludes with the Local Major Finals at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

The tour is for amateurs of all ages and abilities. Members are placed in one of five flights based on handicaps. Flights are: Championship (0-3.9 handicap), A Flight (4.0-8.9), B Flight (9.0-13.9), C Flight (14.0-18.9) and D Flight (19.0-and above). This flight structure has always ensured even more competitive play within each flight.

Tournament format is gross stroke play, with USGA rules in effect. A software program tracks each player’s handicap to ensure participants are placed in their proper flight. Once you begin playing on tour, the integrity of each flight is kept, and many players will be moved up in flights during the season. Also, each tournament has live scoring so players know how they always stand on the golf course, and friends and family can watch the scoring on our web page.

Local tour director’s Kreg Klaver & Hendra Wijaya have assembled a schedule of nine tournaments on some of the area’s premier courses. In addition to the opening venue, tour stops include Jack Nicklaus designed Bears Best, Revere Golf, Las Vegas, National, The Legacy Golf Club, Bali Hai GC located on the Las Vegas Strip, nationally recognized and voted top 100 golf courses in the world, Wolf Creek GC (currently listed in Golf Digest's Top 100 Public Golf Courses in America), in Mesquite, NV and  the Home of the Shriners Open Qualifier, Boulder Creek Golf Club. These courses provide some of the best golf in Southern Nevada.

“The Tour provides everyday golfers a chance to compete like the pros,” says Dennis McCormac, founder of the Golfweek Amateur Tour. “You don’t have to be a scratch golfer to join the Golfweek Amateur Tour; it is the Tour for the rest of us”.

At all Las Vegas Golfweek Amateur Tour events, the top golfers in every flight win Amex Cards, while all participants earn points toward a season-long championship in their flight. Closest to the pins and skins game will also be part of each tournament.  The Golfweek Amateur Tour hosted over 650 events in 2018 producing 39,000 tournament rounds for its members.

Golfers may join the tour at an early bird special price of only $95 until the first new event of the season on December 312019. That fee includes a years Tour Membership, Golfweek Tour Goodie Bag, one-year subscription to Golfweek Magazine, a USGA Handicap Card and the ability to play in any GWAT event around the country. There are over 50 tours throughout the United States with Golfweek Amateur Tours and a total of over 5,200 players competing.

Entry fees for the Las Vegas tournaments range from $109 to $342 for a (36-hole major event). Those fees include cart and green fees, range balls, in some occasions with lunch, and prizes. Results and points standings are posted within 48 hours by clicking this link: POINT STANDINGS
