MacGregor Downs CC
March 5, 2024

The Central Carolina Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour took on MacGregor Downs CC in Cary on Monday March 5th. It was typical spring weather but wet conditions made scoring a little more difficult.

In the Champ flight, John Masotti from the Eastern NC Tour shot a great score of one over par 73 to take the victory. Well done John!  It was a tie for the runner up position as Robert Dabbs and Kyle Moffett shot scores of 76, while Coston Fogleman claimed fourth place with a round of 77. Stephen Pippin from the Eastern NC Tour and Spurling Cook ended the day T5 as both competitors carded 79.

In the A flight, Mike Levister recorded a score of 78 to grab the three stroke victory. Great job Mike!  Three players seized the runner up position as Jamie Hollis, Buck Kercheval, and Quinton Toler from the Eastern NC Tour recorded rounds of 81, while Victor Rivera placed fifth by carding 83. Brian Bunn, Jerry May, and Dana Parziale posted 84 to finish sixth.

The B flight was a dog fight all day, but as the dust settled it was Mike Ivy alone in first with a score of 84 taking the win. Kudos Mike!  Ricky Urbach took control of second place shooting 85, while Shawn Cacioppo and Toby Sheehan were T3 finishers posting 86’s. Daniel Barrett from the Charlotte Tour rounded out the top five posting 87, while Michael Cherry grabbed sixth scoring 88.

In the C flight, Blaine Toler from the Eastern NC Tour made his drive home easier by posting a score of 84 to take the victory. Great golfing Blaine!  Phillip McArn took second place honor carding 87, while Giovanna Jackson placed third by shooting a 90. Keith Hills Golf Course
February 17, 2024

Campbell University in Lillington welcomed the Central Carolina Golfweek  Amateur Golf Tour to play their Keith Hills Golf Course on Saturday February 17th. It was cool and breezy, and that added to the challenge of Keith Hills.

In the Champ flight, James Thomas Moore grabbed the reins and rode to a win by posting a round of 80 making it two in a row for James. Well done James!  Two back with an 82 it was Stephen Pippin from the Eastern NC Tour taking the runner up spot, while Richard Johnson also from the Eastern NC Tour laid claim to third place shooting 83. The Eastern NC Tour continued to be well represented as John Masotti took fourth shooting 84 and John Costa’s 88 rounded out the top five.

Mike Levister drove to Lillington with one thing on his mind and that was a win in the A flight and his round of 79 made that a reality. Great job Mike!  Brad Wicker was runner up as he posted 83, while Quinton Toler from the Eastern NC Tour placed third with a score of 84. TD Chuck Smith and Gavin Locklear ended the day T4 by carding 87’s, while Jeremy Penderman and Mike Martin matched scorecards posting 88 for a T6 day.

In the B flight, eighteen holes of golf was not enough to produce a winner in regulation so a sudden victory playoff was required as Toby Sheehan, Shawn Cacioppo, and Benjamin Graham from the Eastern NC Tour all posted scores of 84. The playoff contestants proceeded to the Orange 1 hole to get it on. Toby and Shawn both parred the hole and returned to the same hole due to play ahead. The second time around Toby made par again but this time Shawn was not able to cover the par making Toby the winner. Kudos Toby!  Benjamin left the event prior to its finish and missed the playoff thus he placed third. C.J. Jackson and Sebastian Restrepo ended the day T4 as both players carded 89.

Mark Brannon from the Eastern NC Tour made the drive to Lillington worthwhile as his round of 86 held on to win the C flight by a single stroke. Good shooting Mark!  Justin Cook and Jeremy Davis tied for second as both players shot 87. Danny Perrault took fourth place with a round of 90, while Landon Wilkes from the Eastern NC Tour grabbed fifth with a 91. Benton Smith shot 93 and Ed McNally posted 94 to round out the flight.

In the D flight, Tom Kubla fired off a round of 94 to take the victory by five strokes. Way to go Tom. Mark Dyvig’s round of 99 made that the runner up score, while Ralph Bevis placed third with a round of 100. Chad McCaskey from the Eastern NC Tour and TD Sola Edwards snagged a fourth place finish tie by scoring 102.
