Carolina Trace Country Club (Creek Course)
The course architect of Carolina Trace is Robert Trent Jones Sr. and if you are a student of the game, you should know Robert Trent Jones portfolio of courses.
Jones, Sr. worked with golf legend Bobby Jones on the Peachtree course in Atlanta and again on the Augusta National course, the home of the Masters. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. became a national celebrity with his complete re-design of the Oakland Hills South course for the U.S. Open Tournament in 1951.
He immediately became the "Open Doctor" and in quick succession re-designed such major venues as Baltusrol-Lower course, Olympic-Lake course, Southern Hills, Oak Hill and Congressional Country Club. During his career, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed or re-designed nearly 500 courses in at least 40 states in the U.S. and 35 countries around the world.
At Carolina Trace Country Club, members are fortunate to have two courses designed by such a world renowned architect.
The course you will be playing at this private community is the Creek Course, which opened for play in 1979. The Creek Course features dramatic elevation changes, rolling terrain, and a “Creek” interspersed among the 18 holes. The narrow fairways are Bermuda grass with the greens featuring Crenshaw Bent grass. You know the drill.

LISTER GETS 1ST GOLFWEEK PLAYOFF WIN
High Point, NC
July 25, 2015
Chapel Hill's Henry Lister has been through thirteen years and four Title Sponsors on the Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour. Even though he has won "on-tour" numerous times, he had never tied for the top spot in his flight and faced a "sudden-death" playoff for the first place trophy. All that changed at Willow Creek Country Club.
Willow Creek: A Flight Winner - Henry Lister
Lister and Kernersville's Brandon Hughes finished tied for the A Flight lead with 80s after regulation play and headed out to hole #1 to determine a winner. Lister made short work of the playoff with a par on the first hole to notch the win.
Close finishes were not the case in both the B and C Flight competitions, as Winterville's Kyle Adams in "B" with a 79 and Charles Krick of Fayetteville with an 87 in "C" registered 5 and 4 shot wins respectively.
Willow Creek: B Flight Winner - Kyle Adams
This was the first Tour wins for the Tour rookies. Adams was 5 shots clear of Raleigh's Nick Slager, while Krick outdistanced Fuquay-Varina's Brien Cozart for his win.
Willow Creek: C Flight Winner - Charles Krick
Diego Gomez of Greensboro had a little less breathing room with his D Flight victory, finishing 2 strokes clear of Shane Kilby of Clemmons - 96 to 98. Also playing in his first year "on-Tour", it was the 2nd Tour win for Gomez.
Willow Creek: D Flight Winner - Diego Gomez
Championship Flight - Sean Pardue (photo unavailable)
A pair of Kernersville Championship Flight contestants played the back tees at over 7,000 yards with Sean Pardue beating Park Williams by 10 - 76 to 86. "It was close for awhile", stated Williams. "I just kinda lost it after the front side".
The next event for the Golfweek Tour is August 1 at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford. Golfers will be playing the Creek Course. There are openings available for that event.

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

Question from week #313
Scenario 1:
In a fourball stroke play competition, Sam makes a stroke at his ball from just off the putting green, while the ball is in motion, Dave, his partner, quickly removes some leaves and other debris that he feels could interfere with the path of the ball.
Scenario 2:
In a stroke play competition, Sunny makes a stroke at a ball from on the putting green, while the ball is in motion, Stormy, a fellow competitor, quickly removes some leaves and other debris that she feels could interfere with the path of the ball.
Any penalties?
A. No
B. Yes, the team of Sam & Dave are penalized two strokes. Sunny and Stormy are okay.
C. Only Sunny is assessed a two stroke penalty.
D. Sam & Dave are penalized two strokes as is Stormy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer
D.
Both Sam & Dave are penalized two strokes, and Stormy is also penalized two strokes. When a ball is in motion, players are prohibited from moving any loose impediments that might influence the movement of a ball. In stroke play the penalty is 2-strokes as it is a breach of the General Penalty for R23. So both Dave and Stormy are guilty of the breach. Sam is also penalized two strokes because Dave is his partner and according to R31-8, if the breach of a Rule assists his partner’s play, the partner is also penalized.

===============================================================
Tour Weather Guidelines:
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
