Hole In One Highlights Tough Day!
Traditions at Braselton was the host course for the most recent tournament for the Atlanta Tour. The course was in great shape but played very difficult for every golfer in the field. A total of 55 players stormed the course and were determined to show they were up to the challenge.
A total of 5 players made up the Championship flight in today’s tournament. It was a tight battle for the top two spots in the field today. DanielAyers fired a 78 on the day to take the early clubhouse lead. Brian Benoit also played a very impressive 18 holes and turned in a scorecard with one more stroke than Daniel’s. A solid round by both players. Rounding out the top three was Wayne McKenney with an 84 on the day.
The A flight saw 12 players compete today. The story of the day in the A flight was the tremendous round that Ron Wilson put together. Ron played a very steady round of golf and used a 5-birdie bonanza to card an even par 72 on the day. Excellent round of golf Ron! Coming in second was Michael Wilson with a solid 79. Rounding out the top three was Justin Brown and Joe Costa with 81’s on the card.
The B flight had a total of 13 golfers in its flight today. After all 13 golfers were in and all the scores were tallied up, it was David Dietrich and Steve Wood standing on top with 84’s. After a short playoff, it was David Dietrich that was the last man standing and winner of the B flight. Rounding out the top three was Joshua Gragg and David Ladd with 85’s on the cards.
The 12 players in the C flight were ready to battle it out when it was their turn to tee off. It was a pretty tight bunch at the top with only 4 strokes separating first from third place. Jackie Mullins fired a round of 87 to take home the top spot while Matthew Armstrong comes in second with an 89 on the day. Coming in third was Maurice Marshburn with a 91. The true highlight of the day came from Trance Whitfield. Trance stepped up to the 143 yard par 3 third hole and ACED it! That’s right Atlanta, you have your first ACE of the tour! Congratulations Trance on a truly great shot!
The D flight saw 10 players battle it out today. Jerod Mullins came out blazing and ran away with the D flight today. Jerod fired an impressive round of 91 to take home a 7 stroke win in the D flight today. Coming in second was Donnie Smith and Jerry West with 98’s on the card.
