Tournament Results
Champ Flight - It was going to be a battle for the championship for this flight as Mark Pustay and Kyle Feigum would go head to head. At the turn, Kyle would have 2 stroke lead and hope to hold off any push from Mark. With a hard fought battle all day, Kyle Feigum would extend his lead and take the victory with a +6 (78).
A Flight - With some hometown favorites coming out to play, it was going to be a fun day to see how everything turned out for this group. At the turn, the two hometown favorites (Rick Silva and Tony Lopez) would take the early advantage and be tied for the lead. However, two solid players were only two strokes back and anything could happen. With a lights out back 9, we would have one player go (-4) and take the lead into the clubhouse by 2 strokes. Rick Silva would need to hole it out from the fairway on his second shot on 18 to force a playoff. He was so close as he hit the shot to 4 feet from the pin! Billy Hinojoswould take his first victory of the season with a +2 (74) and Rick Silva would take 2nd place with a +4 (76).
B Flight - The front 9 would seem to be tough for everyone in this flight except for 2 players with Jordan Morrow taking the lead and Ricardo Barcena right behind him by 3 strokes. A back 9 surge from a couple of players would make things interesting as we would have a 4-way tie for the lead at one point. Jordan would be the first in the clubhouse with the out right lead, but Gaudencio Pavia would make him sweat it out by getting back-to-back birdies on the last 2 holes. In the end, Jordan Morrow would take his first victory of the season with a +11 (83) and Gaudencio Pavia would take 2nd place with a +12 (84). With a 3 player tie at +15 (87), Ricardo Barcena would take 3rd place from a scorecard playoff.
C Flight - With another 20+ player field and this being the first group out for the day, anything could happen. At the turn, we had Amit Lopes leading the pack but half the field was right behind him by 3-5 strokes. With some solid back 9 rounds in the low low 40’s, we would see 4 players jump up the leaderboard and take the lead. Orlando Almeida would be the first in the clubhouse with the lead and watch as everyone made their through hole 18. At one point there was a possibility of a 4 player playoff! Hole 16 would be the deciding factor for most of the remaining players and at the end of the day, we would have a champion. Orlando Almeida would claim his first victory on tour with a +15 (87). Michael Wood Sr. and Chris Rocha would tie for 2nd place with a +17 (89), and 4th place would have a 3 player tie at +18 (90), with Stephan Schendel taking the scorecard playoff.
D Flight - This flight would come down to the wire to declare a champion. At the turn, there was 5 players that were within 2 strokes of each other. On the back 9, it looked like a game of hopscotch with players jumping each other for the lead. Rick Robinson would be the first one in the clubhouse with a solid score, but there were 4 players still out there with 4 holes to go. Hole number 16 would once again be the hole that would determine who would be the champion of this event. Once all the dust settled, Rick Robinson would claim his first victory of the season with a +22 (94). John Vasquez would take 2nd place with a +25 (97) for the day.
