GASTONIA'S COCHRAN TAKES EGOLF TITLE AT DEER BROOK

Shelby, NC (March 6, 2010) - While the generally high scores in each flight reflected the lack of playing and practice time Tour members have enjoyed this winter, Mike Cochran of Gastonia and Steven Clippard of Stanly managed to post a solid numbers in A Flight competition today in the Egolf Tour event held at Deer Brook Golf Club. Both players shot solid 77’s with Cochran coming out on top by birdying the fourth playoff hole. Coming in third was Kings Mountain’s John Collins with a strong 79.
Kings Mountain’s Scott Leatherman shot a 83, 2-strokes better than David Cauthen of Belmont to capture 1st with the "Big Boys" in the Championship Flight.
JD Ledford of Grover used 10 pars and 1 birdie to post an 82 and edge Gastonia’s Neil White by one shot to capture the “B†Flight Title. Coming in third was Roger Vanderford of Lockhart, SC with an 85.
Dallas’s Billy Cauthen scorched the course with a very strong 84 to capture the Deer Brook “C†title. Jason May of Belmont took home second place with a 93 while Gastonia’ Curtis Roselle shot a 96 for third place.
Bostic’s Edgar Hollifield and Lincolnton’s Tim Huffman both fired 101 to tie for the “D†Flight Deer Brook Title. Edgar bogied the first playoff hole to capture the title. Finishing in third place was Patrick Dougherty of Charlotte, NC with a 110.
The next tournament on the Western Piedmont Tour is the combination event at Apple Valley on March 27th. This will be our first major of the year and with the Upstate and Asheville Tours being there as well, there will be over 100 players in the field.
