What a round for Chris Lamb! He birdied three holes and pared the remaining for a 3-under-par (69) performance and the top spot in the Championship Flight. Micaa Thomas wasn’t too far behind, placing second with a 2-over-par (74). Thomas made two birdies on the round. Tony Bostic took third with a 6-over-par (78) while Ryan Polk edged Aaron Grocholski 80-81 for fourth.
David Pongrace captured the A Flight win with a 3-over-par (75). He made three birdies and 10 pars on the round. Adam Trader had originally tied Pongrace but was given a 2-stroke penalty for slow play — we cannot stress the importance of keeping up the pace of play. Trader shot a final score of 77, tying DJ Tekle for second. Alex Sams edged Tim Robinson by one stroke, 78-79, for fourth.
Imee Stackhouse shot a 39 on the front and back for a final card of 78 and the B Flight victory. Stackhouse, who made two birdies on the round, edged Fredy Carreon by one stroke in the win. Rafiq Rashid and Steve Jones finished in a two-way tie for third (83) while Fred Ayubi and Steve Ogletree both shot an 86, tying for fifth.
Play was close in the C Flight as the top-3 finishers were just a stroke apart. Milton Tyrrell shot an 88, capturing the win, while Don Stackhouse carded an 89, good for second. James Briggs finished third with a 90.
It took a playoff for the D Flight winner to be determined. Ryan Huffnell and Dave Phillips were tied at 94 entering the playoff, in which Huffnell won on the first playoff hole. Brandon Platt placed third (95) while Dave Shugart edged two players by one stroke, 97-98, for fourth: Jerald Lewis and Brandon Manning, a Tidewater, Virginia Tour member.
