13th Green at Sandy Creek!
Northeast GA egolf Tour Accepting Players for 2008 ATHENS, GA– The Northeast Georgia division of the egolf Amateur Tour gears up for its 3rd season with a 16 course schedule at some of the area’s premier courses. The 2008 schedule kicks of Feb. 9th at Sandy Creek GC and concludes with the local finals on Sept. 20th-21st. Founded in Charlotte, N.C., in 1995, the egolf Amateur Tour celebrates its 14th season in 2008 with more than 30 divisions across the country. This year’s Northeast Georgia schedule includes visits to: Georgia Club, Royal Lakes, Arrowhead, Chateau Elan and Highland Walk GC. “The egolf Amateur Tour allows everyday golfers to go ‘on tour’ and compete against players of their level,” said local director Mike Brown. “If you’re interested in stroke play events on quality courses, we’ve got the ticket.” Now amateurs can play a tour just like the pros, without the travel. Our tournaments are held locally on weekends, perfect for the average golfer. The tour is open to males and females of all ages with handicaps from 0-25. Golfers are placed in five flights based on handicaps and competition is gross stroke play. Flights are: Champ. (0-5 handicap), A Flight (6-10), B Flight (11-15), C Flight (16-20) and D Flight (21-25). Golfers may join the tour any time during the year for an $80 membership fee. That fee includes a gift bag and tour packet, and allows members to play in Northeast Georgia tournaments, as well as other egolf Amateur Tour events nationwide. Entry fees in Northeast Georgia tournaments range from $75-$150. Those fees include cart and green fees, range balls, prizes for the top players in each flight. Results and points standings are posted within 48 hours at: (www.amateurgolftour.net) and (www.egolf.com). Golfers who finish in the top 10 in points receive invitations to the 2008 egolf Amateur Tour Championship, Oct. 25-26th at Palmetto Dunes & Port Royal Plantation in Hilton Head, SC.
