Las Vegas Golfweek Amateur Tour – Local Rules

Welcome to the Las Vegas Golfweek Amateur Tour.
To make sure every round runs smoothly, please review these local rules before you play.
They’re designed to keep the pace quick, the competition fair, and the experience enjoyable for everyone.

Play Ready Golf and Keep Pace

We want everyone to enjoy their round and keep things moving.

  • Stay in position with the group ahead of you — not just in front of the group behind.

  • The goal is to complete your round in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

  • Play Ready Golf — hit when you’re ready and it’s safe, even if it’s not technically your turn.

  • There are no penalties in stroke play for playing out of turn.

  • Slow play penalties may be assessed for falling behind.

Out of Bounds (OB)

Tour events follow the Stroke and Distance rule for all out-of-bounds shots.

  • If you think your ball might be OB, hit a provisional before leaving the tee.

  • Use a different ball number or marking to tell them apart.

  • You do not get relief from fences or white stakes marking OB.

Lost Ball – 3-Minute Rule

You have 3 minutes to search for a lost ball once anyone starts looking.

  • If not found, go back to your last shot and play again under stroke and distance.

  • If you think your ball may be lost, hit a provisional before you search.

  • Always look for your own ball first before helping others.

  • Following this rule helps maintain a good pace of play.

Triple Bogey Max

  • The maximum score on any hole is Triple Bogey.

  • If you reach double bogey, pick up your ball and record a triple bogey.

  • Champ Flight players must finish every hole — no max score applies.

Putt Out When You’re Close

If your ball is within a few feet of the hole, go ahead and finish instead of marking — unless it would interfere with another player’s line.

Marking short putts adds unnecessary time — about 18 minutes per round on average.
Most short putts are made anyway, so save time by putting out.

Scorecards and Live Scoring

  • Live scoring is required for all events.

  • Only one official scorecard (provided by the Tour) will be turned in per group.

  • Keep one extra scorecard per cart for verification.

  • All players must confirm the scores on LiveScore before submission.

  • Each player should take turns managing LiveScore during the round.

GPS and Range Finders

  • Only USGA-approved devices are allowed.

  • Range finders with slope or extra features must have those settings turned off.

  • Using an unapproved device may result in disqualification.

Rules Dispute – Play Two Balls

If there’s a disagreement about a ruling:

  1. Play two balls from where the issue occurred.

  2. Record both scores.

  3. See the Tour Director after your round for a ruling before signing the scorecard.

  4. The correct score will be circled and used as official.

Player Conduct

Every player is expected to play in the spirit of the game.

Please:

  • Follow all rules and apply penalties fairly.

  • Play promptly and respect others’ shots.

  • Take care of the course — replace divots, repair ball marks, and rake bunkers.

  • Treat carts, rakes, flags, and all course property with care.

Playing with honesty and respect helps keep our Tour competitive, fair, and fun for everyone.
