2026 BATTLE FOR THE CREEK WINNERS CIRCLE

The Minneapolis–St. Paul Golfweek Amateur Tour headed to Timber Creek Golf Course on May 24th for the

2026 BATTLE FOR THE CREEK

the course delivered a true championship test. With a par-72 layout that demanded precision off the tee and confident putting on fast greens, players across every flight battled shifting momentum, pressure-filled stretches, and difficult closing holes in one of the season’s most competitive events so far.

In the Championship Flight, Matthew Foehse put together the performance of the tournament, firing an even-par 72 to capture the title. Foehse came out strong with a 33 on the front nine, highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 sixth hole, and carried that momentum through the back despite a challenging stretch late in the round. His steady play and ability to limit mistakes proved to be the difference as he finished two shots clear of Kurt Lambert, who posted an impressive 74 after carding a solid 35 on the back nine.

A FLIGHT

The A Flight saw Larry “OG” Caldwell claim the championship after shooting an 80. Caldwell stayed consistent throughout the round, carding matching 40s on both nines while handling the course’s tougher scoring holes with composure. Robbie Cordes finished runner-up at 90, while Felix Scott followed closely behind with a 92.

B FLIGHT

B Flight featured one of the deepest and most competitive leaderboards of the day. Matt Meyers earned the victory with an 82 after opening with a 42 and finishing strong with a 40 on the inward nine. Tanner Lydon stayed in contention throughout the round and finished second with an 86, while Brent Svac claimed third at 87 after an impressive even-par 36-hole sixth front-nine birdie helped keep him near the top. Jon Sells finished fourth at 88, followed by Matt Catlin at 90 and Dominic Hathaway at 91. The division also featured several momentum swings throughout the afternoon as players battled difficult scoring conditions on the back nine.

C FLIGHT

C Flight came down to the wire with Steve Ellenson capturing the championship after posting an 88. Ellenson remained steady all day and separated himself with a composed closing stretch on the back nine. Austin Ludeman finished just one shot back at 89, while Victor Lucio secured third place with a 90. Nick Rykal added a solid 91, and Xavier Riggle and Cory Kuipers each fought through tough finishes to remain competitive throughout the round.

In D Flight, Spencer White earned his first victory on tour after shooting a 93, using a strong closing nine to hold off the rest of the field. Ted Chapman finished second at 95 after staying within striking distance most of the day, while Dennis Dreelin posted a 98 for third place. Paul Marotte rounded out the flight at 99.

The 2026 BATTLE FOR THE CREEK once again showcased what makes the Golfweek Amateur Tour special — competitive flighted golf, players grinding through pressure situations, and memorable performances throughout the field. From Matthew Foehse’s even-par championship performance to tight battles across every division, Timber Creek Golf Course proved to be a tremendous venue for another exciting stop on the Minneapolis–St. Paul schedule.

With another successful tournament complete, attention now turns toward the next event as the season-long points races continue to tighten heading deeper into the 2026 season.
