2024 Magnolia Classic Regional - Recap

 

Corbin Holt, Matthew Glore, Mike Gooch, Mike Myers, and Danny Thornton all won the Magnolia Classic Regional hosted by Mossy Oak and Old Waverly Golf Club!

 

Champ Flight 

After shooting a 73, Corbin Holt (Alabama Tour) had a 3 shot lead starting day 2.  He got off to a good start with 3 birdies on the front nine to go out with a score of 33 and continued the steady play on the back nine.  Starting 9 back, Alex Hoffman (Arkansas Tour) was making a charge on Day 2.  Hoffman made 6 birdies on the front to pull within 5 strokes of Holt.  Heading to the back nine, Hoffman made 2 more birdies to finish with a 64 for the day.  Holt continued his steady play to shoot 1 under, round of 71, and win the Champ flight by 1 shot.  

  

A Flight 

Rex Kyzer (Arkansas Tour) and Matthew Glore (Louisiana South Tour) started the day tied after both shooting a 76 on day 1.  Kyzer had managed a 1 shot lead after nine holes on Sunday.  The fight continued on the back nine with Glore beating Kyzer by 1 shot on the back nine.  After 2 days, they were tied and heading to a playoff.  Glore made about a 5-footer to tie Kyzer on the 1st playoff hole.  The 2nd playoff hole, Glore hit a great shot out of the woods from behind the hole to win the A Flight Title. 

  

B Flight 

Mike Gooch (Arkansas Tour) started with a 2 shot lead (80) over Dan Gautreaux (Louisiana South Tour) (82).  After 9 holes, Gautreaux managed to start the back nine with a 2 shot lead of his own.  After Gooch made a few clutch putts on the back, they finished 36 holes tied (166). Taking us to a playoff, after tying the first 2 playoff holes, Gooch secured the win on the 3rd playoff hole taking the B Flight win. 

  

C Flight 

Mike Myers (Arkansas Tour) and Adam Gillam (Alabama Tour) both started 6 back on day 2.  After 9 holes Myers managed to go into the back nine tied for the lead.  After a very close back 9, Myers (171) takes the win with a 2 shot lead over Gillam (173). 

  

D Flight 

Danny Thornton (Mississippi Tour) shot one of his best rounds on Tour to take an 8 shot lead into day 2 (85).  Jeremy Harper (Arkansas Tour) shot a good round on Sunday (91) but was unable to make up much ground.  Thornton continued his great play on Sunday (173) to finish with decisive victory in the D flight with Harper taking 2nd place (184)
