2024 Florida Regional - Recap

John Fryman, Eric Maland, Beau McHan, Michael Webb, and Billy Evertz all won at the Florida Regional @ Innisbrook – Where Champions Come to Play!

The Florida Regional @ Innisbrook brought members from 26 Local Tours across the country to Palm Harbor, Florida. Participants experienced the two legendary courses of Innisbrook (one of the country’s top 50 Resort Courses) and Copperhead (ranked as the PGA Tour’s 7th toughest course). Players started on The Island course which featured tight fairways, intimidating water hazards, and extraordinary elevation rarely found in Florida before moving to the challenging Copperhead course defined by pine tree-lined fairways and rolling terrain the second day. The weather was perfect and so were the greens as it was just 3 weeks after the Valspar tournament.

In the Championship Flight, John Fryman (Columbus, OH) won the event with scores of 76-74-150.  Fryman moved up from 3rd place in 2023 to take 1st place this year. Chad Frank (Orlando, FL) finished in 2nd place at 153 followed by Alex Hoffman at 154 (Arkansas) in 3rd place.

In the A Flight, Eric Maland (Charleston, SC) finished in the top spot with scores of 83-82-165. A scorecard playoff resulted in Al Reams (Eastern NC) claiming 2nd place after shooting 79 on Sunday and Mike Smith (Tampa, FL) in 3rd after carding 83 on Sunday (both players had a 2-Day total of 167). Robert Ruel (Tampa, FL) placed 4th with a total score of 169.

In the B Flight, Beau McHan (Tampa, FL) took home the trophy with scores of 82-77-159. A scorecard tiebreaker was needed to settle the winner between two players with total scores of 172. Colby Shull (Tampa, FL) shot 80 on Sunday landing him in 2nd place and Kaemon Scott (Orlando, FL) finished 3rd with a round of 94. DJ McClure (Tampa, FL) finished 4th at 174 followed by Shane McAdams (Director for Tampa, FL) in 5th with 176.

In the C Flight, Michael Webb (Atlanta, GA) hoisted the hardware based on scores of 85-91-176. Mike Horn (Tampa, FL) followed two-strokes behind in 2nd place (178). Third place went to another scorecard tiebreaker based on Sunday’s round where Keith Vetter (North Central Florida) shot 88, Tyler Jahn (Tampa, FL) shot 91, and Jordan Cook (Alabama) shot 96 placing them in 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively as all 3 carded 2-Day scores of 182.

In the D Flight, Billy Evertz (Tampa, FL) triumphed with scores of 92-91-183 followed by two more Tampa players as Joe Scheib shot 188 for 2nd and Mark Harris placed 3rd with a total of 189. John Horn (Philadelphia Metro) posted a combined score of 191 for 4th, followed by Dennis Kutzan (Tampa, FL) at 193 to round out the 5th spot.

Congratulations to Eric Maland for winning the Srixon MKII Clubs donated by Srixon with the proceeds ($500) going to the Jimmy V Foundation – Cancer Research.
