2025 Recap - Low Country Regional

 

David Schmidt, Scott Edwards, Max Emerson, Eric Walker, and Johnathan Blackwell all win at the Low Country Regional at Fripp Island Resort!

The 2025 Golfweek Amateur Tour makes its third visit to Fripp Island Resort. Tour members representing 18 local tours from across the country travelled to Fripp Island, SC to play the Ocean Creek and Ocean Point courses. Competition among the sell-out field of 120 participants did not disappoint and each of the five flight winners punched their ticket to the 2025 National Championship this October!

In the Championship Flight, David Schmidt (Charlotte) rallied from a two-shot deficit to secure victory by three strokes. His two-day total was 72-73, culminating in a score of 145. Following Schmidt was Jeff Wong (Hilton Head/Savannah) who recorded scores of 71-77 for a total of 148. Scott Kittleson (Charlotte) claimed third place with a total of 149, comprising rounds of 72-77. Lance Lacombe (North Central Florida) finished fourth with scores of 80-70 for a total of 150. Kress Riley (Hilton Head/Savannah) and David Dodgen (Columbia) tied for fifth place, each finishing with a total of 154.

In the A Flight, Scott Edwards (Hilton Head/Savannah) secured the title by a narrow margin of one stroke, recording rounds of 73 and 84 for a total of 157. Sean Kenneck (Charleston) finished in second place with a score of 158, followed closely by Lucas Hardee (Eastern NC) who also recorded a score of 160 and was awarded third place prize money. John Dobbins (Hilton Head/Savannah) and Jace Gause (Charleston) both tied for fourth place but ultimately Dobbins makes the cut line with a scorecard playoff.

In the B Flight, Max Emerson (Hilton Head/Savannah) achieved a commanding four-stroke victory, finishing with a total score of 156 after rounds of 80 and 79. JC Mora (Hilton Head/Savannah) claimed second place with a score of 163, while Monty Batra (Hilton Head/Savannah) secured third with a total of 166. Chris Novak, another competitor from Hilton Head/Savannah, finished fourth with a score of 167, followed closely by Tyler Duncan (Hilton Head/Savannah) who rounded out the top five with a total of 169.

In the C Flight, Eric Walker (Charlotte, NC) triumphed, winning by a margin of six strokes with scores of 79-85 for a total of 164. Tyler Bennett (Atlanta, GA) secured second place with a score of 170, while James Ravenel (Charleston) finished third with a total of 172. Both Anthony Corso (California) and Travis Carlisle (Hilton Head/Savannah) tied for fourth place, each finishing with a score of 173.

In the D Flight, Johnathan Blackwell (Charleston) triumphed, securing the crystal with a series of consistent scores: 83, 95, and a total of 178. Ted Deese (Charleston) and Zak Thompson (Washington DC Metro) finished in a tie for second place, both scoring 189. Joe Peny (Hilton Head/Savannah) claimed fourth place with a score of 192, followed closely by Steve Ingram (Charleston) who finished with a score of 196.
