Matt Green, Zane Sanford, Joe Benson, Kenny Price and Hale Lare all won the Blacksburg Regional!
What a weekend we had at the 1st Annual Blacksburg Regional. Members representing 11 Local Tours from across the country traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia to play The Pete Dye River Course at Virginia Tech. Competition among the sell-out field of 120 participants did not disappoint and each of the five flight winners punched their ticket to the 2025 National Championship this October!
Matt Green (Cincinnati/Dayton) achieved a remarkable Wire-to-Wire victory at the Blacksburg Regional! Competing in the Championship Flight, Green secured the title with an impressive Two-Day score of 140 (70-70), finishing nine strokes ahead of Mike Hartselle (Tidewater, VA) who recorded rounds of 76 and 73. David Schmidt (Charlotte) claimed third place with a total score of 151, while Matt Spruill (Tidewater, VA) closely followed with an identical score of 151.
Sanford Claims Victory with an Unforgettable Final Round! In A Flight, Zane Sanford (Tidewater, VA) secured the top position with a remarkable Sunday round, culminating in an impressive two-day total of 153 (82-71). Dwayne Divers (South Florida) finished in second place with consistent scores of 78 for both days. The tournament prizes were rounded out by the following places: third place went to Alfred Everett (Tidewater, VA) 76-81, fourth place to Kevin Martin (Tidewater, VA) 81-77, and tied for fifth was Ron Sullins (Tidewater, VA) and DJ Engler (Richmond), both with scores of 79-80.
Benson Dominates Wire-to-Wire to Secure the victory! In Flight B, Joe Benson (Tidewater, VA) claimed the top position with an impressive Two-Day score of 160 (76-84). Trey Richardson (Richmond) finished in second place with scores of 82 and 80. The final tournament prizes were awarded as follows: tied for second place was Lyle Joyner (Tour Director of Tidewater, VA) 81-81; rounding out the places was Michael Harris (Tidewater, VA) 82-81; Pat Crawford (Tidewater, VA) 80-83; Travis Lawson (Tidewater, VA) 88-79.
Price clinches victory at the Blacksburg Regional! In the C Flight, Kenny Price (Tidewater, VA) secured first place with a two-day total of 167 (83-84). Joshua Malutan (Charlotte) followed closely in second place with scores of 88 and 84. The final tournament prizes were awarded as follows, tied for third were Milton Tyrrell (Washington DC Metro) 91-82 and Tim Jenkins (Columbus, OH) 86-87, while James Smith (Tidewater, VA) finished fifth with a score of 90-84. Bobby Hargett (Tidewater, VA) rounded out the top six with a score of 90-85, tying for sixth place.
Hal Lare (Tidewater, VA) clinched victory in the D Flight with an impressive two-day total of 181 (91-90). Following closely in second place was Edward Sitko (Tidewater, VA) who recorded scores of 89 and 94. The tournament results continued with Wayne Enzor (Tidewater, VA) securing third place with scores of 92 and 93, David Faggert (Tidewater, VA) in fourth with 93 and 94, and LaRon Hayes (Washington DC Metro) in fifth with scores of 94 and 95. Tied for sixth place was John Cycyk (Richmond) and Thompson Sawyer (Washington DC Metro) who both posted scores of 97 and 96.
