2025 Recap - Great Lakes Regional Recap

 

 

Justin Osborn, Tom Burlison, Thomas Mulhern, Mark Barrett and Lee Waldeck all won The Great Lakes Regional at American Dunes Golf Club.

 

“Golf's Most Heroic Round” unfolded at the Great Lakes Regional, hosted at the American Dunes Golf Club, the birthplace of Folds of Honor. It was truly an honor to be part of this event. The allure of the course alone was sufficient to attract players from 15 tours across the nation, but the ideal weather conditions further enticed participants, particularly those from southern regions seeking relief from the sweltering heat of their home states. Summer golf in Michigan is truly unparalleled!

 

In the Champ Flight, Justin Osborn (Michigan) secured victory with a total score of 141, achieving an even par on Day One and three under on Day Two. Matt Green (Cincinnati/Dayton) area followed in second place, recording steady rounds of 74 and 73 for a total of 147. Jack Julian (Michigan) claimed third place with consistent scores of 75 on both days. Tying for fourth position were John Chupp (Michigan) and Greg Richmond (Cincinnati/Dayton), each finishing with a two-day total of 152.

 

A Flight Results, Tom Burlison (Columbus) secured victory in A Flight with consistent scores of 78 and 77, totaling 155, finishing three strokes ahead of the competition. Tying for second place with scores of 158 are John Ciccone and Joshua VanCampen, both from Michigan. In a tie for fourth place, Marty Orlowski (Michigan), Phillip Turner (Arkansas), and Justin Smith (Chicago) each recorded total scores of 159.

 

B Flight showcased a strategic performance by Thomas Mulhern from Michigan, who clinched victory with consistent scores of 84 and 83, totaling 167. Close behind, just one stroke off, were Marco Bahena from Michigan and Mark Tyler representing Cincinnati/Dayton, both finishing with a total score of 168. Fourth place was jointly secured by Selvan Murugan from Michigan and James Heath from Kentucky, each achieving a total score of 171.

 

In C Flight, this past weekend was truly memorable for Mark Barrett of Michigan, who emerged victorious with a score of 89/86 (175). Notably, he achieved a remarkable hole-in-one on hole #7 during Sunday's round. Close behind in second place was Philip Beaverson from Indianapolis, finishing with a total score of 177. Michael Aschberger of Milwaukee claimed third place with a score of 178. Tying for fourth place were Paul Carpentier of Michigan and Ryan Cecil representing Cleveland/Akron, both concluding totals of 180.

 

In the D Flight, Lee Waldeck (Michigan) continued to build on his impressive season, finishing with a score of 91/92 for a total of 183. He secured second place, narrowly edging out Kirby Hudgins, who finished just one stroke behind with a weekend total of 184. Jacob Smith, also from Michigan, claimed third place with a score of 185, just one stroke behind Hudgins. The top five was completed by Steve Smith from Columbus in fourth place with a total of 186, and Robert Benavides from Cincinnati/Dayton in fifth place with a total of 188 over the Two-Day event.

 

Saturday’s raffle had Srixon ZXi5's up for grabs. The raffle raised $680 for our national donating foundation: The V Foundation - Victory over Cancer. Putting in a few extra raffle tickets paid off for the foundation and for the raffle winner - Michelle Gillan (Michigan director).

Sunday’s raffle had 2 Cleveland RTX wedges up for grabs, with all proceeds going to Folds of Honor. Sunday’s raffle raised $450 for the charity. Raffle winner of the wedges - John Chupp (Michigan).
