David Wachter, Brooks Roberts, Kirk Clarkson, Marvin Pantangco, and Jim Siders all won the 2025 French Lick Regional at French Lick Springs Resort.
The 2025 French Lick Regional Tournament, held on August 31 and September 1 at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana, attracted 124 competitors from 28 Local Tours who showcased their skills on two of the state's most prestigious courses. The opening day featured the historic Donald Ross Course, celebrated for its classic design and challenging undulating greens. In the final round, players tackled the visually striking and demanding Pete Dye Course, which tested every facet of their games.
David Wachter from Indianapolis, IN, triumphed in the Champ Flight with an impressive final score of 144, finishing at +2 over two days. He began his campaign on a strong note, recording a 71 on the Ross Course, which provided him with a comfortable lead heading into the notoriously challenging Dye Course. His second-round score of 73 demonstrated his ability to maintain consistent performance under pressure.
John Chupp of Michigan made a notable comeback on the final day, achieving a remarkable 70 on the Dye Course—the best round of the tournament—ultimately securing second place with a total score of 147. His impressive second-round performance propelled him past Matt Malone from Columbus, OH, who concluded the event in third place with a score of 149.
In A Flight, Brooks Roberts from Central North Carolina achieved victory with a total score of 157. He began strongly with a 77 on the Ross Course and maintained his lead by recording an 80 on the Dye Course. The most remarkable aspect of this flight was the competitive battle for second place, which culminated in a tie between Adam Steele of Michigan and Dana Shoulders of Columbus, Ohio, both finishing with a score of 161.
B Flight, Kirk Clarkson of Indianapolis, IN, successfully navigated the two courses to secure victory in the B Flight with a score of 163. His triumph was a narrow one, as he concluded just one stroke ahead of James Heath from the Cincinnati/Dayton area, who achieved a total of 164. Jason Krich, another local competitor from Indianapolis, completed the top three with a score of 165, finishing two strokes behind the champion.
The C Flight was notably dominated by Marvin Pantangco of Columbus, Ohio, who achieved a winning score of 168. His impressive consistency secured him a six-stroke victory over Jae Lee from North Central Florida, who finished with a score of 174. Christopher Campbell of Indianapolis, Indiana, claimed third place with a total score of 177.
Jim Siders from Columbus, Ohio, secured the top prize in the D Flight, achieving a final score of 188. His consistent performance across both courses afforded him a comfortable four-stroke lead over Jeremy Harper from Arkansas, who finished with a score of 192. The leaderboard concluded with a tie for third place, where Jeff Owens of Nashville, Tennessee, and Terry Cardwell of Kansas both recorded a total of 193.
Additionally, I would like to acknowledge our Golfweek Tour Sponsor, Srixon, for their donation of a set of irons, which was raffled off, raising $1270 for the Jimmy V Foundation (Victory Over Cancer). Congratulations to Brooks Roberts from the Central North Carolina Tour, the fortunate winner of the raffle.
