Recap 2026 - Southern Icebreaker Regional

Joe Jaspers, John Dobbins, Andy Murrow, Tom Fitzsimmons, and John Cullom all won the 24th Annual Southern Icebreaker at Robert Trent Jones & Harbour Town Golf Links!

The 2026 Golfweek Amateur Tour officially teed off with the 24th Annual Southern Icebreaker. Golfers representing 32 local Tours from across the country traveled to Hilton Head to compete at Palmetto Dunes Plantation and Sea Pines Resort. With a sold-out field of 128 players, the competition was fierce from start to finish, and each of the five flight champions earned an automatic entry into the 2026 National Championship this October.

In the Championship Flight, Joe Jaspers, a seven-time National Champion from Charlotte, NC opened the tournament with a three-under-par 69 on the Robert Trent Jones Course, building a two-shot advantage over Jeff Wong (Hilton Head-Savannah). Entering the final round, Jaspers was seeking back-to-back Southern Icebreaker titles, while Wong aimed to claim his fourth victory in the event over the past five years.

Sunday’s round at Harbour Town Golf Links proved especially demanding. With sustained winds gusting over 30 miles per hour, conditions contributed to the highest Championship Flight scoring averages in the event’s history. Despite the challenges, Jaspers posted a 78—one of only two sub-80 rounds recorded across the entire field on Sunday—to secure consecutive Southern Icebreaker Regional titles with rounds of 69–78 for a winning total of 147.

Wong finished runner-up at 154, edging Daniel Constantino (Columbia, SC), who placed third at 157. Rounding out the top five were Andres Lopez (Hilton Head-Savannah) in fourth with 158 and Lamar Adams (Alabama) in fifth at 159.

In the A Flight, John Dobbins (Hilton Head-Savannah) claimed the Southern Icebreaker title with a two-round total of 157, finishing six strokes clear of the field. Will O’Neil (Hilton Head-Savannah) earned solo second place at 163, followed closely by George Lepine (Hilton Head-Savannah) with a 164. Scott Edwards (Hilton Head-Savannah) finished fourth with a score of 167, while Mike Griggs (Columbia, SC) rounded out the top five at 169.

In the B Flight, Andy Murrow (Charlotte, NC), earned a decisive seven-stroke victory after posting rounds of 82 and 81 for a two-day total of 163. Allen Hagen, (Charlotte, NC), finished solo second at 170, followed by Brannon Simmons (Columbia, SC), who placed third with a 173. Lou Verasarn (Hilton Head-Savannah) claimed fourth place with a score of 180, while Tim Woodhead (ENC) rounded out the top five at 181.

In the C Flight, Tom Fitzsimmons (Tidewater), captured a narrow two-shot victory, posting rounds of 88 and 93 for a winning total of 181. Chris Berry (Columbus, OH), finished second at 183, while Roger Cowen (Tidewater) placed third with a score of 186. Dre Beaufort (Tidewater) and Brian Gregor (Hilton Head-Savannah) rounded out the top five, each finishing at 188.

In the D Flight, John Cullom (Augusta, GA), captured the crystal trophy with a two-day total of 182. Wayne Enzor (Tidewater), and Jim Siders (Columbus, OH), finished tied for second at 187. Junior Rivera (ENC) placed fourth with a score of 190, while Jamie Gresham (Atlanta, GA) and Shane Stephens (Louisiana South) tied for fifth, each posting a two-day total of 192.
