Chris Greenfield, Garrett Brown, Ryan Staples, Nick Humbert, and Wayne Enzor take home titles at The Virginia Masters Regional at Kingsmill Resort’s River and Plantation Courses.
The 2026 Golfweek Amateur Tour officially teed off with the annual Virginia Masters Regional, as golfers representing 18 local tours from across the country traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete at Kingsmill Resort’s River and Plantation Courses.
With a sold-out field of 186 players, the competition was fierce from start to finish. Players battled challenging course conditions and a talented field over two days of tournament play.
When the final putts dropped, five flight champions emerged, each earning an automatic entry into the 2026 Golfweek Amateur Tour National Championship this October, along with the prestige of claiming one of the tour’s premier regional titles.
In the Championship Flight, Chris Greenfield of Tidewater, VA claimed the title with a two-stroke victory. Greenfield posted rounds of 75–78 over the weekend to secure the win against a strong field.
Finishing in second place was Mike Hartselle of Tidewater, VA, who carded rounds of 82–73. Dennis Nelson of Tidewater, VA finished third with rounds of 80–75, followed by Trent Barnes of Tidewater, VA in fourth with 79–76.
A tie for fifth place featured Parker Wallace of Tidewater, VA with 82–75 and Thomas Sutterfield of Tidewater, VA with 79–78. Finishing in a tie for seventh place were Zane Sanford of Tidewater, VA with 84–74 and Derek Lee of Richmond, VA with 80–78.
When it mattered most, Greenfield delivered under pressure on the 18th hole, hitting the drive of his life to just 111 yards from the pin, followed by a beautiful approach shot that sealed the victory and the Championship Flight title at the Virginia Masters Regional.
In the A Flight, Garrett Brown of DC Metro captured the Virginia Masters Regional title with a one-stroke victory. Brown posted rounds of 80–76 over the weekend to secure the win.
Finishing in second place was Bubba Kaiser of Mississippi with rounds of 81–76, followed by Jeff Knapstein of Richmond, VA in third with 81–78. Alton Smith of Tidewater, VA finished fourth after carding rounds of 86–75.
Rounding out the top finishers, Wes Hatley of Tidewater, VA placed fifth with rounds of 83–80. A three-way tie for sixth place included Ryan Hopkins of Tidewater, VA with 85–80, Jimmy Lewis of Tidewater, VA with 83–82, and Thomas Dobrick of Tidewater, VA with 80–85.
Brown had to mount a strong comeback during the final round to secure the victory and earn the honor of putting on the Navy Blue Blazer as the 2026 Virginia Masters Regional A Flight Champion.
In the B Flight, Ryan Staples of Tidewater, VA claimed the Virginia Masters Regional title by one stroke in a highly competitive 43-player field. Staples posted rounds of 87–78 over the weekend to secure the victory.
Finishing in second place was Jeremy Huff of Tidewater, VA with rounds of 79–87. Justin Beauchamp of Tidewater, VA finished third with 90–79, followed by Alex Howell of the Philadelphia Metro tour in fourth with 85–84, and Jose Gomez of Tidewater, VA in fifth with 83–86.
Eric Distler of Tidewater, VA finished in sixth place with rounds of 87–84, while Harry Taormina followed in seventh with 81–90. Finishing in a tie for eighth place were John Lederer of Richmond, VA with 88–84 and Travis Lawson of Tidewater, VA with 86–86.
Staples sealed the victory with a strong finish, playing his final three holes at just one-over par, securing the win and earning the honor of putting on the Navy Blue Blazer as the 2026 Virginia Masters Regional B Flight Champion.
In the C Flight, Nick Humbert of Tidewater, VA captured the Virginia Masters Regional title in dramatic fashion, defeating Kenny Price of Tidewater, VA in a two-hole sudden-death playoff. The 43-player C Flight produced one of the most exciting finishes of the weekend.
Humbert fired rounds of 88–84, while Price posted 87–85, leaving the two players tied at the top after regulation and forcing the playoff to determine the champion.
Finishing in third place was James Smith of Tidewater, VA with rounds of 86–88. Roger Claytor of Richmond, VA finished fourth with 91–86, followed by Mike Grant of Tidewater, VA in fifth with 90–88, and Pete Mantoni of Tidewater, VA in sixth with 88–94.
A three-way tie for seventh place included Dre Beaufort of Tidewater, VA with 94–91, Tom Fitzsimmons of Tidewater, VA with 91–94, and Steve Shifflett of Richmond, VA with 88–97.
After two intense playoff holes, Humbert emerged victorious, claiming the C Flight title and the Navy Blue Blazer as the 2026 Virginia Masters Regional Champion.
In the D Flight, Wayne Enzor of Tidewater, VA captured the Virginia Masters Regional title by two strokes, claiming his third Masters victory in a row in a competitive 40-player field.
Enzor posted rounds of 90–91 over the weekend to secure the win. Finishing in second place was Mark Hazelwood of Tidewater, VA with rounds of 89–94. Johnny Hayes of Eastern North Carolina placed third with 94–93, followed by John Frye of Tidewater, VA in fourth with 94–95.
Keith Miller of Tidewater, VA finished in fifth place with 94–96, while David Faggert of Tidewater, VA took sixth with 94–97. Finishing in a tie for seventh place were Michael Conley of Tidewater, VA with 98–95 and Will Graves of Richmond, VA with 97–96.
Enzor mounted a strong comeback on the back nine of the final round, sealing the victory and once again earning the honor of putting on the Navy Blue Blazer as the 2026 Virginia Masters Regional D Flight Champion.
