CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT RECAP
When the pressure was highest, Dennis Nelson delivered championship golf. Following an opening-round 71, Nelson backed it up with a steady 72 on Sunday to finish at 1-under par and claim another major Tidewater victory.
Runner-up honors went to Mike Little, who posted rounds of 72-74, while perennial contender Mike Hartselle finished third after rounds of 74-77.
A FLIGHT RECAP
Fresh off a victory just one week ago, Kevin Martin proved once again why he is one of the hottest players on tour. Martin followed a first-round 74 with a closing 78 to secure the Rogue Wave Brew Co. Open title in A Flight.
Richmond Tour standout Matthew Taylor pushed Martin all weekend, finishing second with rounds of 76-77. Alton Smith posted matching rounds of 77 for third, while Allen Wright finished fourth at 76-78. Rounding out the top five was Tidewater's Ron Sullins with rounds of 74-81.
B FLIGHT RECAP
If there was a flight that defined the weekend, it was B Flight.
Birdies, momentum swings, and leaderboard changes were happening everywhere before the championship ultimately came down to a playoff. When the dust settled, Jose Gomez stood tallest, using rounds of 83-77 before capturing the title in extra holes.
Finishing second was Richmond Tour Director Sean Redmond after rounds of 78-82. Tied for third were Tidewater Tour Director Lyle Joyner (78-84) and Jax Dario (75-87). Completing the top five was Kenneth Beckett with a strong finish of 84-79.
C FLIGHT RECAP
The drama continued in C Flight, where 36 holes weren't enough to determine a champion.
After posting rounds of 87-83, Darrell Bruce battled his way through a playoff to earn the Open Championship trophy. Just one shot behind was Nick Schapowal, who carded rounds of 88-82 and pushed the match into extra holes.
Tied for third were Eastern North Carolina's James Lingo (90-82) and Tidewater's Wayne Blaasch (83-89). Another solid finish came from John Frye, who placed fifth with rounds of 86-87.
D FLIGHT RECAP
The D Flight championship was a battle from start to finish, with several players making a charge throughout the weekend.
In the end, Doland Miller stayed strong under pressure and captured the championship by two shots with rounds of 82-87.
Brian Casten finished runner-up after posting 85-86, while Richmond's Ruel Basilan secured third place with rounds of 89-87. Tidewater veteran Wayne Enzor finished fourth after a strong closing round of 87.
