Quail Ridge GC "Green Grass Open" March 7, 2026

On Saturday March 7th, the Golfweek Central North Carolina Golf Tour tackled the fabulous Golf Club at Quail Ridge in Sanford. As always the course was in great condition, and the weather was summerlike making for a great day for golf.

In the Champ flight, Dana Parzaile posted an excellent two over par round of 74 to take the single shot victory. Awesome golf Dana!  Steven Hamby carded the runner up score of 75, while Kyle Moffett and Yugi Cusick ended the day T3 with matching scores of 77. Rounding out the top five, Matthew Mcintyre recorded an 81.

In the A flight, our very own Tour Director Chuck Smith put together an excellent round of 74 to capture a four shot victory. Great golf Boss!  The runner up score of 78 was reported to the scoring table by John Crooks, while Kirby Moffitt and Paul Hines shot matching scores of 79 in the T3 finish. CJ Jackson rounded out the top five scoring with his round of 80. Meanwhile, Kerney Black registered an 82 for a solo sixth place finish.

Eighteen holes of golf was insufficient to produce a winner in the B flight Saturday as Shawn Cacioppo and Keegan Walmer from the Charlotte Tour entered identical rounds of 84. Tour rules require an on course sudden victory playoff for first place so Shawn and Keegan took off for hole one to take care of business. After a couple good drives, the players next shots were around the green. Shawn must have had other plans so he chipped in for birdie to slam the door on our Charlotte visitor Keegan. Awesome golf Shawn!  Third place was a three way tie as David Pitt, John Carosso, and Thomas Askew all turned in rounds of 87. Sixth place was a T2 as Jacob Gregory and Michael Cherry posted a couple of 88’s.

In the C flight, Davey Avina started out hot and kept it going all day. In the end, Davey fired an excellent round of 84, capturing the victory by six shots. Well done Davey!  The runner up, Bart Roberts, checked in with a score of 90, while Dan Parris snagged third place shooting a 91. The fourth place spot was grabbed by Robert Hockman with a 92, and Melvin Jenkins rounded out the top five with a score of 94. Sixth place was a four way tie with Stephen Rhyne, Casey Honeycutt, William Brigman from the Columbia SC Tour, and Michael Polston also from Columbia all managed to card rounds of 96.

Robert Kessler continued his excellent play in the D flight by firing a nice round of 90. The four shot victory gave Robert back to back wins. Great job Robert!  Gilly Torres took second place honors shooting a score of 94, while Tom Kubla snuck into third place with a round of 95. Tour Director Sola Edwards was the fourth place finisher with a round of 98, while Danny Pyles and Michael Kessler completed the top five scoring with a pair of 104’s.

Next up for the Central Carolina Tour is the Challenge on Saturday Mar 14th in Graham. First tee time is 10am with straight times to follow. Come take the challenge with us and enjoy the perfect weather.
