Keith Hills February 28, 2026

Saturday Feb 28th brought the Golfweek Central Carolina Amateur Golf Tour to Lillington so the participants could test their skills against Campbell University’s Keith Hills Golf Course. The rain was gone and the weather was pleasant for golf.

In the Champ flight, the scores were tight at the top of the scoreboard. Stephen Pippin posted a round of one over par 73 to eke out the single shot victory. Outstanding golf Stephen!  Steven Hamby narrowly missed forcing a playoff by carding 74 taking the runner up spot. Third place was a T3 as Chip Collins and Dana Parziale both recorded 75. QuintonToler from the Eastern NC Tour rounded out the top five scoring with an 83.

Kerney Black also had a battle on his hands in the A flight, but his round of 78 managed to keep his opponents at bay to also win by just one shot. Well done Kerney!  The A flight runner up was Jason Adams with his round of 79. Third place was a three way tie Saturday as Jamie Hollis, Kirby Moffitt, and Dwayne Pope all returned rounds of 80. Andrew Britt snagged sixth place with a score of 83.

In the B flight, an on course sudden victory playoff took place because Frederick Levine and Thomas Askew both turned in rounds of 84. The players met up at hole one to determine the winner and off they went. The playoff ended on the same hole as Frederick drained a par putt Thomas was unable to match. Awesome golf Frederick!  Thomas was runner up by virtue of the playoff. Third place was a T3 as Kenny Johnson, David Pitt, and Joe Candleana all posted rounds of 85. James Shoemaker and Jacob Gregory tied for sixth place with a couple of 87’s.

In the C flight, Justin Barefoot from the Eastern NC Tour made his drive more worthwhile by carding a round of 85 to capture the win by a single stroke. Well played Justin!  Dan Parris grabbed the second place slot firing a round of 86, while Mike Groom continued his fine play shooting an 87 taking third place. Fourth place ended as a T4 with Danny Perrault and Steven Rhyne both returning  rounds of 93. And Blaine Toler from the Eastern NC Tour finished sixth alone with a score of 95.

Another playoff was required Saturday, this time in the D flight as Robert Kessler and Joe McGaha shot matching rounds of 90. Again the playoff proceeded to hole one to bring the Keith Hills event to a close. Robert and Joe tied the hole and moved on to hole two. This time Robert was the player to sink the par putt that wasn’t covered giving him the victory. Great golf Robert!  Danny Pyles, and Junior Rivera from the Eastern NC Tour completed their day T3 with a couple of 93’s. Gilly Torres grabbed fifth place shooting 95, while Charles Krick placed sixth with his round of 99.

Next up for the Central Carolina Tour on Saturday March 14th is the Challenge in Graham with a 10am straight tee time start. Sign up today to take the challenge that is The Challenge!
