"Love Our Veterans Tournament" Hyland Hills February 14, 2026

Saturday Feb 14th drew the Central North Carolina Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour to Southern Pines for an event on Hyland Golf Club. A frost delay moved the starting times, but overall the weather was pleasant and sunny which led to some good scoring.

Good scoring started right out of the gate in the Champ flight as Wes  Strader from the Eastern NC Tour fired an excellent two under par round of 70 in a single shot victory. Outstanding golf Wes!  The runner up by that single stroke was Steven Hamby’s one under par 71. Well done Steven!  Third place was grabbed by Stephen Pippin with a round of 75, while Matthew Mcintyre placed fourth shooting 77. Kyle Moffett carded 79 rounding out the top five.

Dana Parziale got off to a very hot  start in the A flight. He continued his fine play until the end as he checked in with a smooth even par round of 72. Awesome golf Dana!  Johnny Moffett from the Charlotte Tour shot 79 claiming second place, while Jamie Hollis captured third scoring 80. The battle for fourth place became a T4 as Andrew Britt and Spurling Cook posted matching scores of 81.

In the B flight, Shawn Cacioppo carded a round of 82 en route to a two shot victory. Great golf Shawn!  The flight runner up this week was John Carroso with a score of 84, while Kevin Perrault took third place by shooting an 86. Steven Zannos from the Charlotte Tour wrapped up fourth place with his round of 87, and David Pitt completed the top five scoring by  ending the day with an 88.

It was a nip and tuck in the battle for the lead all day in the C flight. When the dust settled in the end, Dan Parris stood alone in first place with a score of 87. Well played Dan!  Danny Perrault racked up second place with a round of 88, while Nick Wilson from the Eastern NC Tour finished in third place by shooting 91. Melvin Jenkins and Peter Pentony finished their day T4 as both players posted 94.

In the D flight, Tour Director Sola Edwards earned the first place honors in the snow delayed opening event with a great round of 87.
