The Central Carolina Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour took a little ride to Whitsett on Saturday September 12th to give Stoney Creek Golf Club their best effort. Here's how that toasty warm day went!
In the Champ flight, Aaron Bayles put together an excellent round of golf on the challenging course posting a 75 to take the trophy and a two shot win. Outstanding golf Aaron! Quinton Toler from the Eastern NC Tour was the runner up recipient with his round of 77, while Chris Gooch snagged third place with a round of 78. Kirby Moffitt took fourth place with an 80, and RJ Totten closed out the top five scoring with a 98.
It was a battle in the A flight all day with five players bunched up within three shots of the lead. When the last putt hit the bottom of the 18th cup, Kerney Black stood alone at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 78 to collect the victory. Awesome golf Kerney! In the runner up slot we find Dwayne Pope with a 79, while Roger Stevenson and Spurling Cook finished their day T3 with a couple of 80’s. Fifth place was claimed by Juan Sanders with a round of 81.
Frederick Levine came out of the gate on fire in the B flight and never looked back as he posted a solid 77 to win by double digits. Inspirational golf Frederick! The runner up honors were shared by Nick Dalessandro and David Pitt with scorecards of matching 89’s. Chris Becks had a solo finish fourth place round of 90, as Bill Mock slipped in a score of 94 to grab fifth place.
Casey Honeycutt pulled out the slimmest of slim wins in the C flight Saturday. His round of 87 gave him a narrow single stroke victory. Great golf Casey! Melvin Jenkins wrapped up the runner up spot with an 88, while Michael Kessler captured third place with his round of 90. Robert Kessler (yes they are father and son), carded 95 in the fourth place finish, while Dan Parris completed the top five scoring by posting 96.
In the D flight, Rat Williams from the Eastern NC Tour, made his trip a little more worthwhile by recording the winning score of 87 in a three shot victory. Excellent golf Rat! Benton Smith turned in the second place score of 90. Our very own Tour Director Sola Edwards placed third by carding 92, while Tia Shoemaker picked up the fourth place finish with a round of 94. Fifth place was a T5 ending as Reid Smith, Landon Wilkes, and Miles Barfield, all from the Eastern NC Tour, and all turned in identical scorecards to the scoring table with matching 100’s.
