Legacy is one of the many premier courses in the Pinehurst area and many of you played it during the pre-season tournament in January when the course was dormant and the weather was cold.
Play the course this week when the the weather will be much warmer and appreciate its greatness even more during peak season.
The Legacy receives many accolades each year and 2014 was no exception as it was voted in the "Top 50 Public Courses to Play" by GolfWorlds Readers Choice Awards.
Don't miss playing The Legacy this week.

3 "FIRST-TIMERS" WIN ON GOLFWEEK TOUR
Holly Springs, NC
May 2, 2015
The A, B, & C Flights in the Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour event held at Devils Ridge Country Club all saw members take home winner's trophies for the first time today with impressive scores.
Dan Smith of Kernersville was A Flight king with a solid 76 - 4 strokes clear of Apex' Terry Evans. Evans was making his return to Tour play after a 2 year hiatus. Smith also added a bonus of winning a skin and a free foursome at the club for winning one of the closest-to-the-pin prizes.
Stoneville's Chris Walker, a newcomer to the Tour this season, was the only flight member to break 80 in the B Flight with a 79, edging out Fuquay-Varina's Scott Williams by a single shot. "The course was still a little wet from recent rains", noted Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "That score in the B Flight was most impressive".
Even more impressive was the back-nine effort of Clint Westergard in the C Flight - shooting an even par 36. Coupled with his 46 on the front nine, his 82 was six shots clear of last week's winner - Landon Wilkes of Apex. "Clint had posted a 98 'on-Tour' earlier this season" said Hallenbeck. "He showed what he can do today".
No stranger to the winner's circle, Tony Eaves of Durham took the D Flight crown with a 93. Raleigh's Ken Hansley was 1-back in second.
The Championship Flight belonged to Tristan Lough of Elon with a 77 - 3 shots clear of Ron Hockensmith of Whispering Pines. It should be noted that the Champ Flight at 6,921 yards played from tees that were almost 500 yards longer than those of the other competitors.
Next stop for the Golfweek Tour will be The Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen on May 9. There are spots open for that event for members and their guests.

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

What’s the Score? #301
Decide which of the following results in penalty:
A. A player lifts his ball on the putting green after marking it with a small loose impediment.
B. A player replaces his ball on the putting green, leaves his ball marker in place, and putts the ball.
C. A player replaces his ball on the putting green and leaves his ball marker in place. After the ball is at rest several seconds, the ball moves off the spot. After removing his marker, he putts the ball from this new position.
D. A player replaces his ball on the putting green and leaves his ball marker in place. After the ball is at rest several seconds, the ball moves off the spot. After replacing the ball back on the original spot, and after removing his marker, he putts the ball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answers
A. No penalty. Not a good idea if it’s windy, but the Note attached to Rule 20-1, Lifting and Marking, states: “The position of a ball to be lifted should be marked by placing a ball-marker, a small coin or other similar object...”. That “other similar object” is generously interpreted to include a loose impediment.
B. No penalty. The Rules do not require a ball marker to be lifted once a ball is replaced.
C. No penalty. Once replaced, the ball is in play and consistent with the statement from B, if the ball moves (and it was not the result of being moved accidentally by the player; moved after the player has addressed the ball; or moved by an outside agency) the ball should be played from its new at rest position.
D. Penalty: two strokes in stroke play or loss-of-hole in a match. When replaced, the ball was in play, just because the marker was left in position does not change that fact. Play it from its new spot, don’t move it back.

Tour Weather Guidelines:
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
