
The
third event of the Arkansas Golf Week Amateur Tour was on April 9, 2022 and had
a little bit of weather from the opening tournament and the second tournament.
The Friday practice round at Cypress Creek in Cabot was cold, cloudy, and VERY
windy. Tournament day saw the winds die down and the sun come up, but the first
group teed off in temperatures in the high 30s. Over the course of the tournament,
the temperatures rose to the 60s and maybe low 70s and the day was much nicer
at the end.
In
the Champ Flight, Chris Smith dominated with a score of 68 for an 8 shot victory.
His round included two eagles. Ben Starsky (76) was able to break a 3-way tie
for second when he parred the 18th hole after putting his second
shot in the water.
The A flight saw Chandler Cain shoot a 77 to win by two over Logan
Karsten (79). Chad Wintz finished third with an 81
The B Flight saw Buddy Taylor (79) win his second tournament of
the year by one stroke over second place, Phillip Turner (80). John Dailey (82)
took third in a cardoff with Jeremy Rogers (82). Rounding out the paid places
in the B flight was tour director, Jerry Homishak (84). He placed in the money winning
a cardoff against Jacob Chronister.
Newcomer Harvey Harris (83) hung on for a one stroke victory in
the C flight over Paul Golden (84). Paul took second in a cardoff over
Christopher Converse (84) and Murray Moser (84). Finishing fifth was Jamey Sapp
at 85.
In
the D flight, Tearris Wallace (88) earned his second victory by one stroke over
Josh Arrowood (89). Josh won a cardoff over Leisa Watkins (89) and Bobby
Williams (89).
Our
next tournament is Bella Vista in Northwest Arkansas. This is a 2-day major.
