The
Arkansas GolfWeek Amateur Tour moved south for the tournament on May 14, 2022.
In one of our largest fields this year, 96 golfers took on Granada Golf Club in
Hot Springs Village. For the first time, we played the ball down as each flight
competed for top spot
In
one of our biggest Champ flight showdowns, Corey Durham (75) outlasted the
field to post his first tour victory. Scott Smith (76) won second place in a card
off with Gene Davis (76).
The A flight saw Logan Karsten (78) squeak by Mike Norwood (79)
and Landon Green (79). Chandler Cain took fourth place with a score of 80 to
round out the A flight paid places.
In another close on course battle, Phillip Turner (78) outlasted
Tour Director, Jerry Homishak (79) to take home the B Flight championship. Cody
Holmes (85) won the card off with Michael Young (85) for third place. Rounding
out paid places in the B flight was Brian French (86).
In the C flight Phil Hemba (79) pulled away from Raymond Peevy
(82) to take home the C Flight hardware. Another card off was needed to decide
the third place winner as Justin Gaddy (84) won over Richard McClendon (84).
The
D flight needed one extra hole as newcomer Todd Puckett (86) and veteran tour
member, Jeff Corder (86), returned to the 18th hole to decide the D flight
winner. In his first tournament, Todd Puckett took first place in the playoff.
Teariss Wallace (88) won the card off over Josh Arrowood (88) to take third
place. Robert Thornton (89) from the Alabama Tour, took home the last D flight
paid place.
Our
next tournament is at Balboa Golf Club in Hot Springs Village on June 5th.
Reminder that this is a one-day Sunday tournament.
