Cajun Classic Regional Recap
This past weekend, the LA North Golfweek Amateur Tour hosted our first ever Regional tournament at Tamahka Trails GC. The Cajun Classic Regional brought 92 players from 10 local tours to Marksville, LA. where they braved the Louisiana hot and humid conditions. The course played long due to semi-wet conditions with no roll on Saturday, but dried well for a very intense final day on Sunday. The greens were in great shape, rolled well and played faster as the weekend progressed. There was a Top Golf Simulator contest on Friday. On Saturday, we started our day with prayer by Joe Crews. After the first round of play on Saturday, the players enjoyed a Cajun buffet along with getting to compete in one of the best skills challenges (Designed by Kevin Michael), that you have ever seen. The winner in each flight received $100 cash for the 3 station skills challenge. There was over $8,000 in prize money given out for the Cajun Classic Regional. Kevin Michael and his staff are phenomenal hosts and we are looking forward to having another regional with them in 2025. Thank you to all the players that traveled, came out and took part in what turned out to be a great Regional with some exciting finishes. We would like to thank all of the players for a great Cajun Classic Regional and for supporting the LA North Tour! Spread the word and hope to see you all next year!

In the Championship Flight, (LA North Tour) Chuck Spears came back from a 3 stroke deficit after day one to shoot a very impressive -5 on day two and sealed the victory by 2 strokes (71-66-137) over LA South Tour’s ACE player, Jacob Hamner (68-71-139). Spears has shot under par in every tournament played this year except for his one score of even par at Koasati Pines GC in our opening major.
In A flight, (LA North Tour) Josh Rogers (75-76-151) in only his third event played this year, was victorious by 4 strokes over (LA North Tour) Matt Walker (81-74-155) who finished second with an impressive day 2 score of 74. Tying third place was,( LA North Tour) Chad A. Douglas (84-76-160) and (LA South Tour) Kain Savoy (82-78-160).
In B flight, (La North Tour) Kyle Swart claimed the victory by 4 strokes with rounds of 84-78-162 over (LA North Tour) Brad Wells (87-79-166) who finished strong in second place. Swart and Wells are the only two players in B flight that shot in the seventies on day two out of 19 players in their flight. (El Paso, TX/Las Cruces, NM) Chris Rocha -Tour director and points leader in his local tour, finished with a steady/consistent third place with scores of (84-85-169). Rounding out the Prize Money was Butch Savoie (90-82-172).
In C flight, (LA North Tour) Gabe Reynolds (84-87-171) held the lead from start to finish. He led wire to wire to capture the crystal trophy over (LA North Tour) Jarred Littleton (87-88-175) by 4 strokes. Reynolds and Littleton were neck and neck all day on the final day. (LA South Tour) Jordan Bilal (96-86-182) had a strong finish on day two to finish in 3rd place. Taking the fourth place prize money was, (LA North Tour) Adam Forester(89-94-183).
In D flight, The Race was ON! (Arkansas) Jeremy Harper (92-87-179) battled and won on the second playoff hole over (LA South Tour) Lanny Bergeron (92-78-179). Battling for the trophy on a strong finish for third place was (LA South Tour) Jim Abshire (92-89-181). Taking forth place was day one leader (LA North Tour) Danny Hatchett (90-92-182).

October 18-20 with a flighted skins game on October 17.
