Flights, Handicaps, and Fair Play
Which flight should I start in?
New players are placed in a flight based on handicap or recent scores.
After your first three tournaments, you’ll establish an AGT Index, which determines your flight placement automatically.
Provide one of the following when joining:
-
A valid handicap index, or
-
Your last five scores, with course rating, slope, and tees played.
If your AGT Index later places you in a higher flight, you’ll move automatically and carry over 75% of your current points.
How do you keep it fair and prevent sandbagging?
Fair competition is a top priority.
To ensure integrity:
-
All new members must provide either a handicap or recent scores.
-
Flights are monitored by the National Office, which provides cutoff scores for each course.
-
Players who score below a set threshold may be disqualified for that round.
-
The AGT Index system automatically adjusts players to the proper flight if their scores show consistent improvement.
These measures keep every round fair for all golfers.
