July 3rd was Memphis/N.MS Egolf Tours 3rd “major†of the season. We had a beautiful day for golf, with the exception of a little wind in your face on some already long holes. The two longest par 4’s at Big Oaks were playing into a south wind of about 10 – 20 mph, #6 played about 500 yards, and hole #11 played about 475 from the tips! But all in all, it was a very good day for golfing.
A Flight: Ben Childers took home first by shooting 37 going out and 40 coming in for a 77. Thomas McMurdy and Troy Weeks both shot 80, and went to a scorecard playoff with Thomas taking second place, and Troy getting third respectively.
B Flight: Ronnie Fondren carded an 84 to win first in the B flight, with Ken Bittles (86) and Nashville tour guest Mike Whipple (87) taking 3rd.
C Flight: In a back and forth battle all day for Greg Cryder and Skiddy Pickens, Greg Cryder finished at 81, one stroke ahead of Skiddy Pickens 82, to take home first place honors. Good round Skiddy. Mr. Fred Bryant rounded out the top three with an 85.
D Flight: Gary Tedford and Jason Morris both shot 89’s and went to a scorecard playoff, with Gary winning on the second handicapped hole. Ronnie Moore took home 3rd place with a 92.
Chester Marsh won the longest drive contest.
Closest to the pin winners:
Hole # 2 - Greg Cryder 26’ 3â€
Hole # 5 - John Pigg 19’ 5â€
Hole #17 – Jordan Jones 3’ 8â€
Thanks to all the players that came out on a holiday weekend to play. I also want to thank Starrdacious Cleaning, Mitchell Distributing, Farmers & Merchants Bank, and RedMagnet IT services for helping sponsor the par 3’s in the tournament. And finally, I want to thank the staff at The Big Oaks golf course, they did a wonderful job for us.
It’s not too late to join the tour, and discounts are available for new members. Contact the tour director on this website for more info.
Knowing the rules:
Q. Is a player disqualified for turning in a scorecard that has a higher score than actually shot??
A. No, the players score will stand if it is higher than the actual number of strokes, but the player will be disqualified for turning in a scorecard with a score less than the actual strokes taken.
