Grenada, MS - The Memphis Golfweek Tour had perfect weather for a golf tournament at the Dogwoods Golf Course on Saturday. Despite the great weather, the course still played tough if you didn't hit the fairway, and there were a few players that found out the hard way as evidenced by higher scores overall. We appreciate everyone coming out to play this weekend. We would also like to thank Jeff Sanford and his entire Dogwoods staff for doing a great job for our tournament.
Champ Flight - Ed McDugle shoots 73 to win his second in a row this season. Rookie Hunter Sharpe cards a 76 to edge out Phillip Roberts 77 for second place.
A' Flight - Rick Hamilton shoots a 75 to win his second tournament in a row in his rookie season on tour! Congrats Rick! Another newbie, Joey Bridges takes second place with a score of 76. Our guest from the Mississippi tour, Mr. Sonny Branning grabbed 3rd with a 77.
B' Flight - After both players shot 80 in regulation play, Derrick Simpson beat John Pigg on the first hole of an on course playoff. Both players hit fairway off the tee, with John coming up just short of green on second shot and Derrick hitting to about 8 feet of pin. John chipped up and barely misses his par putt, and Derrick two putts for par and the win. Congrats Derrick! Larry Denbrock and Chris Prince both shoot 82 with Larry winning on a scorecard playoff for 3rd place.
C' Flight - Parker Harris cards an 87 and wins first place over tour director Greg Cryder's 88. Rookie John Mazzola takes third place with an 89.
D' Flight - Lee Harris wins first place in the flight with a 95. Wayne Gonyaw (97) and Ellis Houser (99) take 2nd and 3rd respectfully.
Our next tournament is at the Wedgewood Golfers Club in Olive Branch, MS on April 20th. Tee times start at 10am. Thanks again to all the golfers that came to Dogwoods, and keep up the recruiting! Please make sure that all guests and potential new members read the Tour Manual and the Local Tour Policies on the webpage so that they fully understand how the tour works. Any guest will get a minimum of $15 off the listed entry fee, as they will not be competing for the flight prizes. See you all at WedgeWood!
