Oxford, MS - The Ole Miss Golf Course was the host of the Isle of Capri Classic tournament this weekend, and it was hot outside! It was a beautiful day for golf on a beautiful golf course. Ole Miss has a fine golf course, and is it highly recommended by the Memphis Golfweek Amateur Tour! Gerald Barron, Tate Anderson, and the entire staff did a very fine job for our tournament. We would like to thank Ole Miss Catering for some very good food. And a very big thank you goes to the Isle of Capri Casino & Hotel for sponsoring this tournament!
Defending Memphis Public Links champion Ed McDugle came out on top in champ flight with a 76 to Mr. Mike Gilley's 82. All you scratch golfers should come out and try our champ flight guys, and just see how you stack up...........that is a challenge being issued
Mr. Stan Platt took home first place in the A' flight with a fine 78. Second place was tour vet Troy Weeks (79) with 3rd place going to flight leader Jordan Jones (80).
With all three golfers shooting 77, B' Flight had 3 way tie for first place with tour director Greg Cryder winning on scorecard playoff. John Pigg beat out P.J. Platt on scorecard playoff for second place. Nice score guys!
C flight had Darren Riggs winning for the 2nd time this season with a stellar score of 80. Might be time to move on up Mr. Riggs. Second place went to new member Joe Griffin with an 82 and third was Isle of Capri rep Baxter Lee, who is also a new member. Way to go guys.
Shawn Yosten won on scorecard playoff with Austin Riggs for his second win in a row. Both players carded 87's. Third place went to Lee Harris with a 94.
We need to give a big shout out to Mr. Donald "Schemer" Harris, who hit his first ever hole-n-one on the 163 yard #12 hole at Ole Miss! Way to go Don!! That is NIIIIIICE!
Our next tournament is at the Links @ Cottonwoods golf course in Tunica, MS. We are going to run a Fathers Day special and give $10 off of your entry fee if you bring a guest* to play in tournament!
