Olive Branch, MS - A fine day for golf didn't help the Memphis Golfweek players, as overall scoring was higher after playing the Wedgewood golf course on Saturday. The "rookies" came to play this past weekend, as 4 of the 5 flights were won by the rooks!
Champ Flight - Rookie Hunter Sharpe shoots 74 to claim his first victory on the tour. Congrats Hunter! After both turned in 78's, Mike Mayhew and Hunter Blackwell went to a scorecard playoff with Hunter taking second place and Mike getting third respectfully.
A' Flight - Another Rookie, Michael "Hammer" Stafford cards an 80 and gets his first win on tour! Way to go Hammer! Dereck Joslin beat Thomas McMurdy on a scorecard playoff for second place. Both players shot 83.
B' Flight - One more rookie, Chris Prince turns in an 88 to beat out the 93's of Shane Springer and Tom Horton. Congrats Chris on your first win on tour! Shane took second on the scorecard playoff.
C' Flight - Our final Rookie winner, James "Duck" Harrelson, took 94 strokes and beat out Dennis Sensing and Maurice Coleman for the trophy. Great job Duck! Dennis beat out Maurice for second place on a scorecard playoff.
D' Flight - John Bennett scores a nice 92 to win first place. John may be inching his way to the C' flight with scores that are better than the entire C' flight. lol. Ellis Houser takes second and Lee Harris grabbed third.
Our next tournament is at the Mirimichi Golf Course in Millington, TN on Sunday May 5th with a 1pm shotgun start. All players wanting to play at Mirimichi will need to sign up for the tournament early. We would like to thank John Wells and his entire Wedgewood staff for a job well done!
