Oxford, MS – The Memphis/N.MS Golfweek Amateur Tour played its third major of the season at the private Country Club of Oxford on Saturday. CC of Oxford is an absolutely beautiful course that was in immaculate condition, but also had plenty of bite when it came to scoring.
A' Flight- After day one, Max Paquette and Phillip Roberts were tied for the lead at 83. Thomas McMurdy was in third with an 85. Day two saw Phillip and Thomas end up tied and going to an on course playoff where Phillip won with bogey on #18, the 436 yard par 4. Max fell to third place tie with Tommy Warren, with Tommy winning on score card playoff.
B' Flight- Ben Coles shoots 82 and shaved 10 strokes of his day one score of 92 to win the tournament by 3 over Russell Cooks 90-86. Mike Bertoldo improved by 5 strokes on day two with an 87 to take 3rd place.
C' Flight- Bobby Robertson grabbed the day one lead with an impressive 87, and backed it up with a day two 89 to win by 7 strokes. Fred Bryant shoots 91-92 to take second place, and George Powell improved by 6 strokes from day one to snatch 3rd place with 97-91.
D' Flight- In a close battle, point’s leader Vince Vaghela and Trey Horrell went at each other for 36 holes with Trey winning by one stroke. Arthur Miller grabbed third.
