Tupelo, MS - The weather went from slightly humid and windy, to a downpour with gale force winds! Although the bad stuff only lasted about 15 minutes, it took a healthy portion of umbrellas, hats, gloves, towels, and anything else that was not strapped into a cart, and decorated the golf course with them. After a 45 minute wait, the tournament continued with excellent weather, and we even had an occasional ray of sunshine! We know that a lot of the players had a long drive to go home, so we want to say thank you to all the players that waited out the storm to finish the tournament. And thanks to Buford Easter and the entire staff at Big Oaks Golf Course for doing a fine job!
Champ - Ed McDugle shoots even par 72 to edge out Mike Mayhew and guest Kenneth Drewry's 73's. Mike takes 2nd place on a scorecard playoff with Keneth grabbing 3rd.
A' Flight - After a two year absence, Ronnie Fondren returns to the tour and shoots a fine 76 to grab first place. Welcome back Ronnie! Mark Heath continued his excellent play with a 77 for second place. Juan Castillo cards a 78 for third.
B' Flight - After both players shoot 81 in regulation play, Larry Denbrock makes birdie on the first hole of the playoff to beat Todd Hutchinson for 1st place. The Birmingham Tours own Mike Penn grabbed 3rd with 83.
C' Flight - Greg Cryder and James Harrelson went to the course after each turned in 84's for regulation play. Both players make bogey on the first hole, and proceed to #2 where James hits tee shot to about 8 feet from cup. Gregs tee shot was just short of the green, which led to a bad chip, then a lip out for par on the next chip. James makes par for the win. Congrats James! John Mazzola takes third place with an 88.
D' Flight - John Bennett shot a C' flight score of 88 to take the win. At this rate, John will be promoted soon (lol). Congrats to the new "Prez" of the D' flight committee. Lee Harris cards a 93 for second place with Ellis Houser's 94 good for third place.
