Jeff Maier- Champ Flight Winner and Mike Bilderback-
This past weekend the Columbus and North Central Ohio divisions of the eGolf Amateur Tour held their first two-day event of the year. Glenross Golf Club in Delaware and Chapel Hill Golf Course in Mt. Vernon were the host courses for the 2010 US Open. Great weather and low scores was the story of the weekend. A total of 34 golfers came out to play in the US Open this year, all were set to take home the trophy, points and bragging rights.
The Championship flight saw four golfers take to the courses to try and bring home that US Open trophy. Jeff Maier played Glenross in 1-over par 71 to take a 6-shot overnight lead over Richard Young and Tim Pickering; and a 9-shot lead over Hyo-seung Lee. Chapel Hill, which played firm and fast on the day, showed a tighter competition between the group. Maier fired a 4-over 76 to seal the deal with a 2-day total of 147. Tim Pickering went back-to-back 77’s to come in second with a 154 on the weekend. Rounding out the top three was Richard Young who went 77-82 for a 159.
The A flight saw Mike Bilderback continue his hot streak on the eGolf Tour by displaying incredible length all weekend long in route to a 16-stroke win. Mike fired rounds of 75-74 to take home the top spot. As one golfer in his group this weekend said “that guy is just ridiculous long.†Coming in second was Steve Chinn and his rounds of 81-84 for a 165 total. Justin Wang rounds out the top three with an 83-85 for 168 over the weekend.
The B flight saw three guys put together great rounds both days to claim first, second and third. Brandon Fraley went 76-79 for a 155 to take home the top spot. Hack Fannon (75-83) and Brad Herpolsheimer (78-80) went 158 on the weekend to round out the top three. Hack Fannon wins second place based on a scorecard playoff.
The C flight was some great golf on both days. After day one, Zavier Neeley (81) was the leader by one over Keith Weaver (82) and by three over Gary Andrews (84). Chapel Hill was going to be the deciding factor. Neeley and Weaver (92’s) both feel apart on day two but Gary Andrews stayed solid and fired a round of 81 to run away with the C flight championship. Andrews (165) takes home the top spot while Neeley (173) takes second. Weaver (174) rounds out the top three.
The D flight saw four golfers competing for the glory of winning the 2010 US Open. By the end of day one, Kevin Brown (91) was the overnight leader. By the end of day two, he was holding the trophy. Kevin went 91-96 for a 187 over the weekend to beat Wayne Dawson (94-99=193) by six strokes. Rounding out the top three was Scott Allen.
Congratulations to all the winners of the 2010 US Open. We finally had some great weather to play in and the scores reflected it. Our next event will be in two weeks, July 10th, at Granville Golf Course in Granville, Ohio. The North Central Ohio Tour will be playing on July 11th at Mohican Hills. Players can sign up to play in either event.
