Todd Barnes ("A" Flight) & Wayne Dawson ("D" Flight)
The 2010 eGolf Amateur Tour for Columbus has officially started. A total of 42 golfers ventured out to Ashville to take on Cooks Creek Golf Course. After a week of beautiful weather the golfers went to the course with entirely different conditions today. The wind was blowing all day long with gust up to 25 miles per hour and the temperatures went from the mid 80’s to the mid 50’s. Regardless of what the weather was, the spirit of the golfers was not affected.
In the Championship Flight the ever consistent and always competitive John Fryman started off the season with a three shot win over Jeff Maier. Fryman shot a 75 on the day with three birdies while Maier shot a 78 with one eagle. Ryan Troup and Richard Young round out the top three with a 79 each.
The A Flight saw the return of Todd Barnes amongst a host of new members this year. Barnes also walked away with a three stroke victory over Justin Wang. Barnes put together a solid round of 76 with two birdies to take home the victory over Wang’s 79 and three birdies. James Sellers and his 82 on the day round out the top three.
The B Flight saw Richard Smialek take home the top spot with his round of 83 on the day. Bob Ubbing, Devon Ratlif and Hack Fannon all came in with 84’s on the day. In a scorecard playoff, Bob Ubbing took home second place.
The C Flight champion was Brad Bressler with an 86 today. Brad pulled played a well rounded and solid round of golf to beat Philip Petitti by 2 strokes. Coming in third was Keith Weaver and Cham Kahari with 91’s on the round.
The D flight was won by new comer Wayne Dawson. Steven Root finishes second while William Gilstrap rounds out the top three.
Congratulations to all the winners and placers today. We look forward to seeing everyone at Darby Creek on May 8th.
